Sometime in the future…

Compared to half a century ago, the world hasn't changed much. At least, that's what I'm told. They say the 20-teens were the start of the new world. That's when the first virtual reality headsets were created. Though, they weren't that big of a deal back then. Humans didn't have the proper technology for them yet. Not like we do today. I heard back then, if someone had a pair, you didn't want to put them on, or even touch them since they were primarily used for watching porn and masturbating. It wasn't until 2019 when the internet became "The Field."

Apparently, the idea had come from some movie or book that had come out around that time. Back when movie theaters were still around. Now, if you want to watch a movie, you put on our VR headset and met your friends in the Field and watched it together. The Field isn’t a virtual, video game world. It is another reality. And that's where everyone lived in today's world.

The old world was rotting, falling apart, filled with trash and was hotter than the inside of a whore’s money-maker.

Yes, it continued getting hotter and hotter outside throughout the years, but it wasn't because of… what did they call it?

     Global warming?

Yeah, no. That was all wrong.

It turns out, a black hole was on its way toward our solar system. We didn't know this until, the second phase of our coming end time. Yes, the world and every human being on it are on a very quick road to extinction. I guess that's why everything escapes into the Field.

Anyways, the asteroid belt that surrounds our solar system was the first affected by the giant void headed our way. The swirling dark mass had hurled gigantic pieces of space rock around our system. The planets were like sitting ducks while a wild brat threw rocks at us. Cities were destroyed. People rioted the streets. It was total exploited chaos. All the anarchy-loving punks had a hay-day. Until, they were killed. They were some of the first to die. Invariably preaching a life of anarchy on a daily basis but couldn't handle it when it actually happened.

A few years later, the asteroid attack ended. More than half the population were killed. Either from an impact, fire, the riots, or one of the many foreign chemicals that came from the asteroids. It was from one of these chemical compounds that we discovered LIX, or Liquid Space, a drug that nearly everyone took. But more on that later...

After the asteroids had stopped, we thought it was over, since the black hole wasn't coming anywhere near Earth. But we were wrong again.

The black hole has a powerful magnetic pull and had gotten close enough to the sun, it started pulling energy from it, thus bringing the sun closer to us. So, essentially, we are in a gigantic furnace being cooked to death. This is why we stay indoors.

The news that we were all going to be burned alive, would've brought even more chaos, we thought. But it had actually calmed everyone down. It was the most bizarre thing anyone had ever seen. I mean, besides the new laws that were and were no longer enforced.

Suicide is no longer illegal, but rather, encouraged. Warning labels were also taken off of everything you could think of. This was the biggest eye-opener, but then, it wasn't. Nobody knew the point of it, until people started dropping like jocks in a Columbine-like school shooting. More people were killed because of the loss of warning labels than half of the deaths from the asteroid attacks. You found out how many people actually paid careful attention when dealing with dangerous things. It is like Darwin’s survival of the fittest, except the fittest don't survive, in the long run.
