Last night, I fought with valor

To defeat self-destruction.

It's not as simple as “what's the matter?”

If I could say I wouldn't be running.

Most days are built on bliss,

Shining an unceasing light.

But dark days always insist

To prove that I am not quite right.

Sometimes, when I lay my head down

Tragedies overcome my mind.

It's hard to see yourself wearing a crown

When thoughts of coffins keep you confined.

Last night was filled with so much sorrow

That left me paralyzed.

Violence almost put an end to tomorrow

Because my inner beast took me by surprise.

By the time the sun came

I regained my spirit to survive.

The gun was already cocked and aimed.

But I fought with all my strength to stay alive.
