To know that I am so close to you 
Yet I probably don't even cross your mind, 
Though somehow, an encounter from you, 
Or even a text 
Can send a swarm of lokus to my heart 
Eating away my wall of safety in solitude. 
I know it's not love. 
I've felt love. 
But it's some kind of connection 
One that's burrowed it's way 
Deep into my skin 
Like a tick, hungry for blood. 
Yet no amount of chemicals 
Or other hazardous way I use 
Can get rid of you 
I just can't shake you off 
My brain is telling me to keep my wits about me 
But my heart swoons over the slightest mention of your name 
I know I don't need you 
But my body and heart crave your affection 
Is there any better way 
For someone to hit a self destruct button 
Than to develop unrequited feelings?
