In ancient times, the traditional symbol was used is the sign of a Bountiful Harvest. Often decorated with fruit, and flowers it was used as a centerpiece at tables where the villagers would share Nature's Bounty. This was not the only reason, as it dates back as far as ancient Greece. The shape of the goats horn, was used for that instrumental reason. It was used as a horn. This story goes, when Gaea gave birth to Zeus, he would make noise like any baby. In order to hide that noise, she sent two of her servants in order to leave the cave and make as much noise as they could to cover up the baby's crying from Cronus. Those who do not know, Cronus also referred to as the Titan swallowed his children in fear that they would rise up against him. Zeus, was the only one who had been kept hidden from him. Cronus had swallowed his two brothers, Poseidon and Hades first. When Zeus had grown up, he slayed the Titan forcing him to release the two brothers. Thus, Greek mythology Zeus to control the sky, Poseidon to control of the sea, and Hades took control of the underworld. The Goat's horn became a symbol of ancient Greece many years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
