The end of a pleasant moment
A few hours-perhaps a day has passed
I wait-the deepest shadows
 of my brain prepared 
“It’s time for the pain”
 How sophisticated I’ve become 
 in this game of grief 
Ready-almost willing to accept 
this double-edged sword 
I run the gamet of emotions and can do it
In a mere tick of the clock
I function rather effectively 
Feeling quite proud of the ability to do so
But always on guard for the piercing pain
that exposes my valnerability 
My thoughts and actions are symptomatic 
of this condition of contradictions 
And again-in an instant I’m back on track
with my memories of you
My lifeblood to sanity flowing once again
