This brain, the one that never stops analyzing and manufacturing new material is both a blessing and a curse because it can deliver so much joy and satisfaction. It also reminds you of the life you don't have, the people you will never know and the love you don't feel.
It creates an entire novel out of nothing and there is no way to shut it down or turn it off, so meaningless exchanges that strike you wrong end up becoming immense scenes of drama and angst that antagonize you to the point of anxiety, but since others don't think the same way you do, they don't understand why you're so upset because your worries are not realistic. They are in fact, all in your head or written down on a sheet of paper in front of you. None of this is real because it is something coming out of nothing but to you it's everything.
It kills you internally when another person knocks down the things you spent endless hours pondering about because to you, your mind is your biggest asset. It is the source that best defines you. It's your own form of art and the way you express yourself so when one labels it as "invalid" it makes you feel as if your existence is nothing. Sure, the graffiti you see on the back of a building wall or the words written on a bathroom stall are likely inappropriate and insignificant to most, it is so much more to the one who created it because everything has a story behind it as to how it became a reality.
While most of society just perceive the present, some have the capability to simultaneously recognize the past, present, future and morph it into a source of entertainment. If you don't understand any of this then you must not be a writer BUT if this is striking a cord with you, and the words I'm conveying are making you feel a buzz from within, sparking inspiration into your brain and kicking it into overdrive as your fingers itch to grasp onto a pen or keyboard to jot down what's occurring within your mind at the moment then there is no doubt about it, you are definitely a writer.
