The shimmering silver of the clean countertops. The clippings from the freshly cut grass. The neatly organized bedrooms.

The content girl whistling along as she sweeps the living room floors. Then scurrying to her room as her mother comes home.

“Dezirea! Where are you?,” yelled her mother with an angry tone.

“Dezirea a petite young girl entered the room with her hands to her side and her head hung low.”

“Stepping closer to the girl she took her hand and lifted her head. Looked her straight and the eyes and yelled “What is this mess! I told you to clean the house!”

“In a stammering voice Dezirea respondes “I did clean the house.”

“Scoffing her mother steps back and points all around the room while speaking “This...house is not clean not even in the slightest. I do not keep you home from school for you to dilly dally. Clean this house now!”

“Feeling defeated, neglected, and hurt Dezirea goes to find something in the house that could possibly be cleaned.”

“Dezirea is used to this treatment from her mother. It’s been like this ever since their father left them when she was 6. Ever since then her so called mother has been out partying while she’s cleaning the house. Dezirea is 13 now and would be in 7th grade if it weren’t for her mother keeping her home. She just wished that one day it would all change. That she could have the freedom she’s always wanted.

The life she’s always wanted to have.

To be continued.
