Truth
We all claim to want to know it 
Lies
We shame those who tell them 
But do we really want to know
Causing more pain as we go 
And hear another tale of woe 
Or would we rather just let it go 
What we truly want is for the truth to be nice and what we expect
When in reality finding out is the thing we most regret
Lies are , sometimes , almost a mercy killing
Though they break our heart and tear us apart, we accept them because we are willing 
We know the deceit of what we are told instantaneously 
We accept it so we won’t have to face the truth 
And no matter how obvious is the crime we disregard it famously 
And force down the pain like bitter sweet vermouth.
For we would rather live the lie than face the bitter truth .
