The sounds of feet pattered through the hallway, hurriedly. The woman ran up the stairs as she pulled her daughter along, her breath ragged as she tried to calm herself form scaring her child. Running towards her daughter's room she came to a stop at the light blue door. Twisting open the knob and bursting through the room, her eyes scanned through coming to a stop at the white wooden chair.
Letting go of her daughter's hand she grabbed the chair and pulled it in the middle of the room, where she stood underneath the lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. Kairose watched in fear as her mother climbed up her small chair and unscrewed the bulb from the top, Kairose wanted to ask her mother what was happening, but she couldn't find the right time to ask.
She watched as her mother pushed the socket and a large door opened, Kairose surprised and confused from the sudden move, waited for her mother to explain. But sadly her mother didn't say anything. Kairose's eyes began to wander curiously, this is her room-- yet why does she feel as if she has no memory of it at all.
There was a single bed tucked in the corner of the room, stuffed animals sitting on the bed, a small white wardrobe pushed up against the wall, a small study desk and chair in front of a window. Her body moved towards the window, her feet skimming through the soft creamed carpet. She stopped as she looked out, there were three black SUVs driving up to her street, she watched patiently and finally realised that they were heading towards her house.
Kairose wondered what they wanted, again she waited and the cars parked outside her driveway, four male dressed in everyday clothing stepped out of the vehicle and two females in red, straightened themselves.
Kairose tilts her head, 'What did they want?' She thought 'Does mama know them?' she turns her head to her mother "Mother?" She calls out "Kairose! Come away from the window!" She whispered shouts, Kairose obediently stepped away "Come here! Quickly."
Kairose smiled as she walked towards her mother, her mother grabbed her into a hug and Kairose leans her head on the crook of her neck, smelling the nice warm pinewood and lavender, her mother's scent. "I love you, Kai. Papa and mama love you." Kairose slowly pulls away from her hug, as she looked at her mother confused.
Why is she telling her this? Kairose felt herself being held still, she heard the door open quickly "Kalista! We don't have time!" Kairose heard her father voice "Quint, We're leaving our baby." Kalista's voice cracked as she caressed her daughter face one last time, "Take her up!" Quint yelled as he turns towards the door, his hands up at the door.
"Mama-" she was cut off as her mother hit the back of her neck, slowly knocking her out, Kairose's eyes slowly fluttered shut, "We love you, Kai. I'm sorry." she whispered as her mother kissed her cheek and she lifts her to the top pushing her in the attic, Kairose's eyes slowly start to water before her mother closed the door.
"Quint! Put a barrier around her. They'll discard this house." Kalista cried "She'll be fine. Her Karma will protect her. Have you given her yours?" Quint asks, Kalista looked at her daughter, her eyes opening and shutting slowly.
"Yes. It's sealed." Kalista smiled at her daughter through tears, 'Why?' Kairose thought Kairose tried to focus, her parents face, it's blank.
They have no face. Kairose stared wide-eyed "K-Kairose?" Her mother walks towards the attic and Kairose's tears rolled in, everything was a blur "Kairose?" her mother calls out, but everything was a blur "Kalista shut the door!" Quint called out before they both heard a loud crash.
Kalista quickly shuts the small door and Kairose laid in the darkness, was her eyes shut or was it because she was in the dark that she couldn't see anything, loud crashes and shouts were heard from downstairs, she couldn't move, she couldn't open her mouth.
"Don't touch her!" she heard her father's voice "Let me go! Quint!" Kalista's voice shouts, Kairose heard her parents fighting beneath her "Where is that sweet baby of yours?" A female like voice asks "Go fuck yourself!" Kalista's voice sounded amused at the threat, "Honey, I would if I could." Kairose shivered at the sound of the deep and squeaky female like voice "Karma!" the voice came again.
Kairose panicked, her mother-- "Gahh!" The blood-curdling scream echoed through the attic sand Kairose cried softly. She mouthed mama over and over "Let her go!" Her father called out, Kairose sobbed her heart aching for her parents, the torture kept going, hearing her mother scream, Kairose laid there unmoved due to her mother, "Had enough?" the voice asked 'Mama...please.' "You'll never find her...you bitch!" her mother laughed. "Well then." the unknown woman said "Argh!" Her mother screams.
'Mama....stop.' Kairose begged, more tears swelled up, heart slowly breaking at the deep and insufferable pain "What the hell do you think you're doing?" A deep voice echoed through the room "Boss-" "What THE hell do you think you're doing?" the voice was almost chilling, "S-She insulted me!" the woman defended.
Silence.
"Gah! What are you doing?" The scream wasn't the voice of my mother but of that woman's. "Punishment. You had no right to touch the hostages!" The deep dark voice echoed, Kairos's tears almost stopped at the sound of his voice, it was terribly haunting.
"Sir! There is no need to burn her hand-" "Do not interrupt me. You did not listen to what I said. His voice snapped. Silence Get them into the car. I will have to deal with the rest of you once we get back.
The sounds of shuffling sounds of footsteps were heard and then silence. Kairose, closed her eyes, her little heart slowly thumping against her chest. 'They're gone. I'll never see them again.' she thought to herself, but something made her do a double take. Someone.
There's someone still in the room, "Did you really think that you could hide her from us? Kairose felt her heart drop, the voice of the man, she didn't dare to breathe. "I know you're there." 'No...No' Kairose panicked.
She heard the unscrewing of the bulb, her heart raced, she felt sick. Her stomach was clenching tightly, this couldn't be happening, her tiny little mind starts to pile up 'No...he couldn't' "Kairose." He whispered she couldn't breathe.
She let out a shaky breath, that she forgot was holding. 'Move.' she screams at her body 'Move!' She cried out, her body wasn't listening 'Please..please.' she begged You know Kairose. I used to love your mother. Kairose froze, 'what? What?'
"I see you. Kairose." My breaths quickened, heart racing, he sees me....but I don't see him....he has no face. He reached his hand towards me and I screamed....with no voice.
"No!" A loud scream echoed through the empty room, hunched over in bed the young female wheezed and gasped for air. Sweat beads rolled from her forehead, her dark blue sea green eyes darted quickly around the room, a body shifted next to her.
"Kai? What's the matter?" A deep drowsy voice came from beside her, she ignored the voice as she stared at her hands, it shook in fear, tears stained her blankets "It's just a nightmare." The teen boy beside her rubbed her back in circles.
"Kai. It's a really bad nightmare." He tried to soothe his big sister, she looked over to him and gave him a subtle yet sweet smile "I'm ok. Thank you." She reassured him, giving the teen boy a little ruffle, he grabbed her hands annoyed by her gesture and stared into her eyes.
"Was it the same dream again?" He asks, tilting his head and looking down at her "Yeah." She whispered as she wiped her tears away and sniffled. He pulled her into a hug and she buried her face in his shirt.
Before any of them could say anything, the door slammed open and the lights switched on before two girls came running in, one holding a Japanese traditional katana and the other holding an M17 gun.
"What the hell happened?" The woman with short cropped hair shouts as she gripped the katana, ready to cut whoever broke in the house.
"Kairose? Asher? Who screamed?" The other blonde with long hair asks as she corks her gun, aiming for whatever was about to jump out, Asher rolled his eyes at the two older sisters that barged into the room looking like two crazy psychotic women. His arms still holding Kairose into a hug lowered.
"Kai had another bad dream." Asher states, the two older sisters breathed a sigh in relief, they saw their sister wiping her new tears away. "I'm fine-" the two older sisters jumped on the bed as they comforted the teen. Kairose laughed between her cries and her sister hugged her as they soothed her with comforting words.
"Yeah, but this time...I can't see my parent's face." She brought her knees up as she hugged it, "What do you mean?" Sariah's twin, Silah asks. "I mean, their faces aren't..there. It's gone. I don't remember their faces anymore." Kairose tucks her chin in, Asher gets up and walked to the dresser, he slid off his blue t-shirt and grabbed for a white shirt.
The two sisters turn to face each other, exchanging worried looks and rubbed her back. "Kai, I'll get to the bottom of this. There's nothing to worry about, we will find your parents and you will meet them." Sariah smiles warmly, Kai raises her head and nods slightly.
"Everything is going to be ok. I promise." Silah placed a kiss on the top of her head and gets up. "Now get your asses up, your turn to grab the groceries." She added, Kairose and Asher groaned on cue and Silah raised a brow making the two straighten up and apologise.
"Go and clean yourselves. I'll start with breakfast." Sariah smiled as she got up, ruffled Kairose's long and unusual white silver tresses and left. "Don't stress Kai. Be happy." He smiled as he walked back to the bed at Kairose, she felt her heart ache for a moment and grabbed him into a tight embrace. "Oh, you little monkey. Of course, I won't stress over something so little. You are such a cutie, hottie, little patootie." Kairose giggled "Eww, get off me! Woman! Get off!"
The sounds of shuffling echoed through the hall, dazed about her dream last night, she made her way down to the bathroom. Leaning over the sink bowl as she splashed cool water to wake herself up. Kairose stared down at the water that swirled around the sinkhole and slipped inside, She looked up at herself in the mirror and stared into two dark blue eyes with a slight of green hue, she closed her eyes and took a shaky breath. Everything will be ok. she reminded herself as she straightened up and pulled her curly silver hair into a messy bun, her eyes closed and calmed herself.
'I'm fine. Just fine, there's nothing to worry- 'Kairose stopped short to see herself in the mirror, clenching her jaws as she stared into the mirror, she stared at her body but her face was missing. Her dream, it's really--backing away from the mirror she turned for the door, pulling it open and stumbling out.
Kairose slammed the door shut and leaned her back against it, she sighed a sigh of relief 'It gets worse by the year. I'm forgetting their faces.' she felt a tug of pain at her chest, she has to keep smiling, she has to be happy.
'You have to be happy Kai, we will be fine.' she mumbled as she pushed herself off the door and made her way downstairs.
Thoughts raced through her head, 'I need to think of something. I'm losing my memories.' She stopped her thoughts as she turned to see that there was a woman at the bottom of the stairs, Kairose stepped back, her breathing quickened.
'This isn't right, this doesn't seem right.' she thought to herself, it was her mother. Her mother stood at the bottom of the stairs, but what was sickening and twisted was that her mother didn't have a face.
Her breaths quickened, the heart racing she backed away only to bump into a wall, she felt large hands holding her shoulders turning her around.
"Kai!" Her breathing hitched as she stared into two dark brown eyes "Asher?" She chuckles sadly and tucked a strand of her loose curls back "Sorry, I saw a wasp."
Kairose rubs her palm on her eye, and laughs "Don't lie to me." Asher said Kairose looked up towards the teen boy who she grew up with, the small boy she used to play knights with was a grown up, she knew that there was no hiding.
"I'm not my sister's. You can fool them, but you can't-fool me." His voice cracked, she felt a tug and a knot in her stomach and sighed shaking off his hands.
"Asher, let's not do this. I don't want to burden you or the family." She smiled at him, he looked away from her smile. The smile she puts on is her genuine sweet smile, but there was sadness in her smile, he knew because she hides everything behind that one smile of hers.
"What are you two doing?" Silah calls up to the two, Kairose pats him on the cheek "Don't worry about me." She whispered, and walked down the steps, closing her eyes shut when she heard "But I worry about you the most." Softly, he didn't mean to say it out loud, but he knew she heard.
Kairose entered the kitchen, strong smell pancakes, sizzling sausage and eggs. The bittersweet smell of coffee drifting through the kitchen, Sariah was on the phone and flipping pancakes, Silah at the table on her phone and sipping her coffee.
"No, I told you to send me the reports yesterday! I want it today Marsvati!" Silah yells and ends her call, slamming her cup of coffee down.
She mumbled some inappropriate words and dug into her breakfast, Kairose raised a brow and took a seat, she points her finger towards the cup of coffee and flicks her finger up, the hot steaming coffee to drift up, without Silah knowing.
She twirled her fingers in the air and the coffee swirled in the air and danced above Silah, she stopped midair and looked up at Kairose "Put. It...back." Silah muffled through her food "Or what?" Kairose smirks, Silah raised a brow and chewed her food thoroughly.
Silah wiped her mouth with a service and twisted her fingers, the coffee was pulled away from Kairose grasp "Hey!" Kairose narrowed her eyes and Silah earned her smirk "Aw what's the matter?" She cooed, Kai, scoffs and whips her finger towards her.
The two had a fight with the floating coffee, Silah slams her hands on the table earning a loud thump, Kairose stood up too with a loud thump.
They both had a stare down, coffee mid-air and a screaming Sariah on the phone, she was too busy to notice that there was coffee in the air.
"No, no, no I told you that I wanted the order by this week, fix it Jackson or I'm going to come down there and ring your neck!" Sariah placed the fresh batch of pancakes on the plate next to her.
Kai and Silah still fighting over the floating coffee in the air "Floating coffee." Asher yawned past Sariah, she whipped around her hands in the air and the coffee froze, it fell on the table and it broke into small shards.
Sariah's nose flared in anger and she glared at all of them. The room went silent and everyone sat down, quietly.
Sariah finished her phone call, her back facing the three, she clenched the edge of the marble counter. "When I'm on the phone." she turned and eyes every single one in the room.
They felt like they were being choked by her stares, no space to breathe "I do not want to hear you talk or breathe." She smiles. Kai nods almost too quickly and so did Silah, they both breathed out heavily once her stares left them.
"Kai, Asher shopping list is already sent on your phone. Money is already in your account, don't forget to grab the chia seeds." Sariah sat down and flicks her hands against the frozen shared, they floated up and to the sink.
"My coffee." Silah cries and Sariah ignored her sister and continued with her breakfast.
They sat around the amber wood table and had their breakfast, Kairose watched as her small family laughed and fought over the last piece of pancake.
Asher glanced over at Kai who was giggling softly, hurt flashed across his face. Kai notices but ignores him.
After breakfast Kai and Asher got ready for their little excursion to the shopping centre, Kai took a quick shower which was interrupted when Silah walked in and freeze the water.
Leaving a cold and pissed off Kai in the shower, she wrapped her body in her towel and chased after her, passing a very amused Asher.
"Keep those eyes in or I'll put them in" Sariah pushed open her bedroom door, Asher rolled his eyes and took a drink from the water bottle he held, "They're kids." He replied, "They are your sisters." She shot back "One of them is." He smirked and Sariah pulled a face and pulled a fist with her hand, the bottle shook and water spurts out and splashed at its face.
"Hey!" He wiped his face and Sariah smirks "Oops." she walked in her room. Asher groans and walked inside his room to change his shirt.
Kai returned to her room and slammed the door shut "You're a psycho!" She screamed at her door "Oh quit being a baby!" She heard Silah returned, she rolled her eyes and made her way to her drawer stand and pulled out a pair of denim jeans and a white tank top.
She pulls up her denim jeans only to be stopped at the bottom of her butt, her eyes widened "Oh no, no, no. Not my favourite jeans!" She pulls at it again, and it still hasn't gone up "Are you kidding me? I did my squats yesterday..... I mean yeah I had cookies and pizza, but come on! It was a treat." She whined.
She took off her denim jeans and walked in front of the mirror, she raised a brow at her lower body and then laughed "I see, I'm growing a bit chubbier." She turns around looking at herself in the mirror "I have a great ass." She looked at her curvy body and smiled.
"Shakey, Shakey Shakey." She wiggled her plump butt and laughed, walking towards her drawer Kai grabbed a long beige skirt.
Asher waited for Kai in the car, his eyes glued to an unknown white van across the road, he tapped his phone against his knees "Asher!" He jumped as Kai jumped on the window in the driver's side.
"What the hell Kai!" He screams, she threw her back and laughed, making her way to the passenger's side of the car and opened the door.
"That's not funny." He said as he started the ignition, Kai just laughs and set her seatbelt up "You should have seen your face." She snorts and it was Asher's turn to laugh
"Shut up! It's not funny, why do I always snort when I laugh?" She pouts as she crossed her arms "Because you're getting fatter piggy-" Asher froze mid-sentence 'Shit!' He mentally slapped himself, too scared to face her he reversed the car, slowly.
"Fatter? Excuse me there is a difference between fat and big." Kai eyed him from her seat, eyes burning holes at Asher.
"Uh. I mean-" Asher flustered didn't know what to say "I'm big boned ok!" Kai points at him, she turned away and faced the window. Asher regretting what he said grabbed for her hand but she pulled away.
"Just drive." She snapped, Asher sighs and steps on the gas, the car swung and Kai flew back "Gah!" She screams as her hands flew to grab anything.
Asher smiles and Kai felt the blood drain from her face "Forgive me." He smiled, his eyes on the grey van "Asher don't you dare-" she was cut off when he slammed on the gas.
"Ahhh!" She screamed, Asher sees the grey van follow behind, he made his way through the empty street of the neighbourhood and cut into corners. "ASHER!" Kai screamed, he just laughed and pulled on the gear. "You'll thank me, sis." He said adrenaline rushed through his veins.
Kai felt sick, her stomach tightened and tasted a little bit of her breakfast "Stop...blegh." Kai clamped her hand on her mouth.
"Hey! hey! Don't throw up in my car!" He looked over to Kai who was already grabbing for something in the back. Kai grabbed a small bag and opened it, Asher turned to see that she had his Gucci backpack.
"Kai! Not my gucc-" the smell of breakfast cut him off and he groaned "Kai!" He shouts her name, she felt satisfied after that, sitting back she looked at him and smiled "That's on you."
Kai gave him the bag and he had to turn away, the smell was disgusting that he felt like throwing up himself, "Let's go shopping!" Kai chirped and made her way towards the large shopping centre.
"Coles! Coles! Coles!" She sang and Asher groaned and followed her. "Can I please have 3 plastic bags please?" Asher asks one of the workers.
"S-sure." The female employee stutters, this caught the attention of Kai. Of course, she was going to stutter, her brother was quite attractive and 5 of the females in the check out will prove it.
He was a mix of Australian and German, he wore a white long-sleeved shirt tracing his big yet toned arms and blue washed jeans.
Kai thought of an idea and grabbed for a trolley, she hooked her arms with his "Ash, come on." She smiled at him but he returned a cold flare which made her laugh.
Pulling him away from 5 pairs of eyes. He pulled the last knot and threw it in the trolley "Do you have any idea how much that bag costs?" He asks, she was pulling out food items from each aisle, ticking it off as she made her way to the next aisle. "Oh, I'm sorry. But who drives 70 in a 40 zone? You are so lucky that the cops haven't caught you!"
She points the spaghetti at him, he rolled his eyes "I was trying to lose the grey van." He mumbled Kai, turned around "Did you say something?" Kai asks as she tried to reach for a pasta sauce, Asher watched as she struggled to tiptoe in her flats.
Kai huffs in frustration and turned around to face him "Enjoying the show?" She asks and he chuckles "Absolutely." She gives him a sarcastic smile and uses her foot to push the trolley, hitting him on the stomach.
"Urgh!" He grabbed for his stomach "I'll grab the desserts and you grab the drinks for tonight." Kai waves making her way to the frozen aisle.
Skipping towards the aisle, she noticed that there weren't a lot of people shopping today. Kai stopped in front of the ice cream section and scanned the shelf "Salted caramel..salted caramel....hmm." she pulls opened the door and stuck her head in.
Grabbing for the salted caramel she felt hands grab her by the waist and clamped her mouth closed "Mmf!" She panicked as she saw the reflection of a stranger through the glass door, Kai was dragged back and she struggled against the large man.
"Mmf!" She wriggled and thrashed her body, but the man was too strong "I got her! Quickly bring the van around before he notices." The deep voice behind her grumbled against his earpiece.
Kai's eyes widened and she wiggled and thrashed even harder, she pulled at the man's arm so she could bite it but he wouldn't budge, the man was extremely strong, she starts to panic, her eyes were searching for anything to hit him, so he could at least lose the grip for a bit.
But her attempts of escape was short. Her mouth was clamped tightly and the large hand was covering part of her nose making it hard for her to breathe.
'No! No!" She shook her head and closed her eyes as she felt tears slowly fall.
