As a kid, you grow up being told you can be whatever you want to be. Many aspects of the world are still foreign to you which limits career choices. Most of the time, it’s pretty simple: if you’re into sports, you want to be a professional athlete; musician, rockstar; et cetera, et cetera, and if you don’t make it, you go with your parents’ jobs as backup. Nevertheless, it’s not all that important to you. Anything will do, as long as you’re able to grow up and become an adult. The glorious, 18th birthday finally makes its way to your life. You’re an adult by law; yet, you still feel the same. That is because you’re not a real adult yet. Actual adulthood doesn’t come into play until that child-like innocence disappears forever. That optimistic attitude where everything will be all right, has died. You start to breathe in the acquired depression that looms in the air. You come to realize how sick, sad, and lonely the world really is. You wonder whether or not if it’s always been like this. Sadly, it has. When you wish you to be a kid again, that’s when you know. Welcome to adulthood.
