"Harlaquin!" I turn around and see my bestfriend Ace, hes standing on the other side of the street flailing his arms around in the air like a moran, I wave back feeling a little embarrassed. I cross the street and join him.  We walk down the crowded street we yell excitedly and people stare, but neither of us mind. He may be a moran but he's my moran. When were together it's like the rest of the world doesn't exist, Everyone else fades away and its just him and l. See its always been just him and I so I've gotten used to it. Our mothers were best friends too. We finally reach the movie theatre and stand at the end of the long line. "These people must be here to see the new Blades movie too." I say to Ace with a smile. He laughs "Yeah, right! Like we'd ever go to see 'Blades, avenge on Timbohld..." we both laugh so hard by the time we finally stop i can barely breath. "Guntrae and bullet's midnight massacre 2, Is gonna be awesome!" Ace nods his head "yeah, but who new that such an awesome name could be so misleading. Remember the first time we saw the first one?" I smile, "I said I was Sorry! How was I supposed to know that it was about magical creatures? The name sounded so awesome I bought the tickets without watching the trailer.. but it all worked out, did it not?" Ace smiles "Well, I guess your laziness can be excused just this one time." I was about to explain, or as Ace calls it rant, how im not lazy i have a disorder called not caring. When i heard *HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME THAT MAN JUST STOLE MY DAUGHTER! PLEASE MY LEG IS BROKEN AND I CAN'T CHASE AFTER THEM! HELP SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HER!* 
I turn around and instantly see the man whose screaming. Everyone else is just standing there staring at him like he's crazy. I rush over, " Which way did he go?" I ask trying to keep my voice calm. he points across the street at a tall man sticking out of the crowd, hes running, but people dont seem to notice him. He has a small blonde haired little girl slung across his shoulder, he face is puff, it looks like she was crying but she's passed out now. She has blood gushing down her face from her forehead. I turn towards the man and shout. "I'm going to get her back don't worry! I'll meet you back here!" Then I bolt across traffic. I almost get hit by a taxi but I don't care. That little girl needs my help, at the moment shes the only one I'm concerned with. I run down the street, I have my eyes on him. Nudging people as I run through the crowd. Occasionally shouting, *Excuse me* *sorry* *my bad*.
 The tall man turns and disappears from the crowd I finally reach the spot and he disappeared at and and look around. I spot him in an alley, behind some stores. He's just standing there, starring at a wall. "Hey!" I shout, "if you put the girl down, and back away slowly. I'll let you go, but if I ever see you again ill.." he turns his head to the right a little, "you'll what?" He barks, "tickle me to death?" I can feel my face getting hot. He's right though I'm not that tall or strong, "Not what I had in mind, but if that's your preferred way to die, then what right do I have to take that away from you.." I turn around and see Ace, he has a smug smile on his face. Did I mention Ace takes taekwando and karate classes every Friday? I used to take the same classes but dropped out at the age of 10. I stopped going when my mom died. She really wanted me to take the classes so i did but when she died i couldnt bring myself to go. Aces also pretty tall and he's got a strong build. The man laughs "I'll admit, you may be more of a challenge than your friend here but that doesn't mean you should walk around insulting your superiors." Ace laughs, "By superiors do you mean kidnapping creeps like yourself?" The man turns around and for the first time I see his full face. I shudder, the right side of his face is completely burnt and the left side isnt much better. Even if he doesnt have burns on the left, I'm guess he wasnt much of a looker in the first place. "What did you say?" He asks furiously, I don't think it was much of a question so I say "Did all that running make you deaf? No? Then you heard my friend. So why don't you put that little girl down, she doesn't need your filthy hands all over her." I can see the rage spread across his face. "Do you have a death wish?" His voice frightens me a bit but I regain my composure when Ace places a hand on my shoulder for support. "I could ask you the same thing." Says Ace even though it's just the two of us up against this brute I feel as though I have an entire army behind me. "What do you think H.D?" I smile "Well A.C, I think that depends on if he puts that girl down or not. If he's smart he'll do as we say and walk out of here without a scratch, if not then let's just say his prison sentence won't be his only problem." Ace laughs and I think I see smoke coming out of the kidnappers ears, hes mad but I don't care. The kidnapper sets the little girl down in a corner and says "If it's the after life your looking for then I'd be happy to help." He takes a few steps forward, and without thinking I step forward too. I will protect this little girl, even if it costs me my life. I instantly realize this was a bad idea, when I remember I have no muscle, I'm weak. He swings his arm back and thrusts it towards my face. I flinch but after a few seconds I realize he didn't punch me, or maybe I just died from the blow. However when I look up what I see astonishes me. The kidnappers clenched fist is frozen right in front of me, just centimeters away from making contact. I turn around and see Ace is frozen too. I turn back around and see the girl still on the floor, I run over, sit next to her and feel for a pulse. It's faint but I can feel her heart beat. "Hey. Wake up, please. I'm not sure what's happening but I have to get you back to your father before it stops. Can you hear me? Hey!" I put my hand on her forehead where she was bleeding. It stopped, I'm glad. "She can't hear you." I turn around and see I man standing in the alley opening. "None of them can." He says, I can't see his face because of the light that's glistening from behind him, but I can hear his voice clearly. "Why? Do you know what's going on? If so then tell me." He chuckles "oh how I've missed you little Foxtrot. They're frozen in time. I couldn't let you get hurt, now could I? What kind of guardian would I be then?" My eyes grow wide, "Frozen, in time? Guardian? Missed me? I dont even know you. I think you have me mixed up with someone else." He laughs "It doesn't surprise me that you don't remember. After all the last time I was assigned to you was 10 years ago. I'm Phoenix, I'm a guardian sent to protect those with special abilities." He moves out of the light and I can see his face. His jaw line is so perfect, if I were a guy I would definitely be jealous. Good thing I'm not though. His bright green eyes stare at me with what looks like love and passion. I've no memory of him but that name. Where have I heard it before? "Phoenix?" I say, "That name.. who are you?" He smiles and walks towards me, "I'll explain everything in a minute, but right now we need to get that girl to her father. Let's go." I shake my head, and try to pick up the girl. She's too heavy for me though. I hear Phoenix laugh, here foxtrot let me get her. What I need you to do is go wake your friend Ace." I nod my head and run over to where Ace is standing. He's reaching out his eyes are wide, his mouth is wide open as if he were gonna yell, his eyes. Not only can I see his fear, I can feel it. He's terrified for me. "Phoenix?" I don't look at him, "Yes, little foxtrot?" I smile, "How do i.." he chuckles, "don't tell me you've already forgotten your training." He sighs sarcastically. "Take your right hand, place your pointer and middle finger on his forehead and brush them across his forehead." I look at my fingers, that's it? "Oh and he's gonna be a little freaked out. I'm counting on you foxtrot." Says Phoenix as he walks past me to the movie theatre. 
I take my two finger and sweep them across Aces forehead. "No.." Ace screams in my face launching himself into my arms. I do my best to explain everything to him, about Phoenix, and the being frozen in time thing. I'm pretty sure he would have thought I was crazy had he not seen the kidnapper frozen. "So.." says Phoenix when he returns, "Bailey's safe." He smiles when he sees Ace. "Well if it isn't little Spades. I'll admit you've grown, but you look exactly like the day I left." Ace looks at me unsure, then he looks back at Phoenix. "Are you talking to me?" He asks pointing at himself. "You are Spades arnt you?" Phoenix smiles, "Spades, why did you give him that Nick name?" I ask curiously, "I didn't. Flare did." I step forward and align myself with Ace. "Flare?" I I look at them both "who's that? I ask. "Sorry. I forgot. Flare is Spades guardian." I don't look at him but I can feel him starring at me with the questioning look he always has on his face when I mess up. It's like he can ask me what I was thinking without even using words.
"Foxtrot?" says Phoenix, "What?" I ask "can I talk to you, over here for a minute. It won't take long." He says pointing to the corner. We walk over and I ask what's up. "Spades should remember Flare. I don't remember her sealing away those memories." I look back at Ace, "What do you mean? Maybe she just didn't tell you." I he nods his head in agreement. "That's a possibility. However I'm going to keep an eye on him. I don't want to put you in danger because I just brushed something to the side." I look back at him, and smile. "Okay. I'll also watch for any signs of danger from him." He smiles back. "That's my Foxtrot." We walk back over and Ace examines me curiously. I shrug my shoulders, in hopes it will get him off my back. "So are you guys ready to go?" Asks Phoenix "Go where?" I ask dumbfounded. "To the OGA." Says Phoenix. He turns towards the wall of a building, clenched his right hand into a fist, and punches the wall. Before he removes his hand he mumbles something I can't tell what it is, but it seems to work because as soon as he takes his fist off the wall a light blue hole opens in the wall. "Is that, a portal?" I ask feeling a little nervous, obviously Ace doesn't share my feelings because he says, "This day just keeps getting better." He flashes a teethy grin at me, and my nervousness is eliminated. I turn and smile at Phoenix, he smiles back. "Well," he says, "If your both ready then let's go."
