There is no such thing as adoptive orstep-parents, there are only PARENTSWhen a mother holds her child...“ in her hands, like a bunch of flowers “,Caresses and comforts away the tearsShe does so instinctively witha maternal love from withinWhen a father tosses his child in the air,Catches that gurgling joy and rocks his child in his arms , rides his love on his shoulders, reflecting his pride and joyand caringDescriptions -“Good Parent-Bad Parent”are not predicated by prefixesBut ona gut-level fabric wovendeep in the soulIn this highly efficient world of labelsWhere life is often simplified by stamped identintity, there is a place for suchclarificationBut there is also a world of humanityWhich judges on deeds and characterNot on prefabricated premisesThose of us who come togetherTo heal unhealable wounds of griefDo not come as adoptive parentsDo not come as step- parentsWe come as PARENTSBecause our hearts are brokenWe speak from our tears for our CHILDREN, “ step”or “adoptive “are not in our vocabularyOur tears ,our painmake no such distinctionPerhaps it is time we follow theWisdom of our Tears
