I write and am curiously satisfied 
with my words
As though it was a high school 
English assignment
The topics  usually focus on death or
living with death 
There is no happiness in these words
Yet l’m somehow satisfied 
with my response 
There is also an element or guilt 
For satisfaction at this price
seems unjust 
Why I ask do l look forward to writing
And reading these words 
Wrapped in a mourning shroud 
I wound eagerly give my life to 
eliminate this ritual if only  
 I could bring Marc back
Why then this satisfaction in writing 
                   Simple 
              I write to express  
              I write to connect 
              I write to  survive
Perhaps my words will keep Marc alive
