Demiurge Life

"It will be fun." They said. "Join our group and you'll have riches beyond your wildest dreams!" They said. "Trust us! The adventures are well worth it!" They Said! A load of bullshit! Why me!? Why I have to deal with a Elf-haftling weirdo, a Dragonborn and some other joker. How the hell did I end up like this!

!The Story beings!

I'd had it all. My mother and father and my other nineteen siblings. But one day when I was at the age of seven. I was abandoned, by my own family I'd treasured so much. They kicked me out just like that. But why? Did I do something to upset them? Did I do something to threaten them? Why? Why did this happen to me?

I'd wonder in the street of Mordai, doing everything to survive. If that meant stealing, hunting, robbing or anything else that will keep me alive.

Part I

The town I'd lived in was called Mordai Glory: the town of hope. With a name like that you expect to be nice, big surprise! They're not. Mordai Glory is a name of Tiefling hero. Once upon a time there was a Tiefling who was disgrace to society. Even though he never done nothing wrong, so he left town to redeem himself.

One day the town was attacked by Orcs. Then at the last moment Mordai slayed every one of the Orcs. But even saving the town, the people still disgraced him. Mordai left again and on his journey he met a wood elf drowning in a nare river. Even the current was fast, he dive in after the elf.

The elf was shocked by the fact that a Tiefling would him, a total stranger. The elf was so grateful that he asked to join Mordai in his journey. At first said no, but elf was determined to repay him. But Mordai didn't wanted anything, what was more shocking. A Tiefling not wanting anything in return.

The wood elf was on his knees begging to join him. Mordai told the elf that he could join, but as alliances. But as friends.

Once again the town was attacked by Orcs. Mordai and elf slayed the Orcs and then these adventurers came along, nagging at Mordai and the elf about doing their job. Mordai didn't care anymore because the town was safe. But then... something happened.

A huge, way bigger Orc came smashing the town. Mordai brought out his legendary wepon: Óla tha pésoun, In Greek it means All Will Fall. But it had another name... Demiurge the curse sword. Only a true hero with a heart of gold can truly weld it. The sword was made by a dwarf blacksmith named Flint Ironfist.

With one swing Mordai hit the beast and defeated it. He raised his fist in the air and said "I swear on my very name. I will always protect this town and it's people!" And every since then, everyone saw him as the hero he truly is. Every monster or beast who threaten the town, he defeated them all.

And that's how he got his name Mordai The Glory. Because he'd never been defeated in his entire life. Literally, not even the wood elf could defeat him. But one day Mordai was very sick, he had illness with no cure. He died, but not die in vain. Cause people he left behind, live on his story and named the town Mordai Glory: the town of hope. The end.

Part II

It's was a month since I last ate, I didn't think I'll live to see the next day. But then I woke up in a nice soft bed in a human house hold. I freaked out a first, I jumped out of the bed then I noticed my old raggedy clothes were gone. Instead... I was in proper pajamas.

I heard the door handle turn and immediately jumped back into the bed, trying to pretend I was asleep. A middle age man came through the door, he had light brown hair, emerald eyes cover by crystal like glasses, slight tan skin and caring smile. He took a stool and placed it on the side of the bed. I hid in the blanket so he couldn't see my face.

He reached out and took hold of the blanket and slowly removes it off. I got afraid so in defense I bite his hand so hard that he was bleeding a lot. But he didn't screamed, he didn't shouted, he didn't push me away nor told me to stop.

Instead he used his other hand and started patting my head. He spoke in a soft voice "I'm glad your awake. I was really worried. But it seems I was worried for nothing. You very spirited, and extremely stubborn. I made breakfast, but it's not my hand. Speaking of which you should let go, you have no idea where my hand has been." After him saying that I'd spit out his hand and wiped all the blood off my tongue on to the blanket.

He started laughing and laughing. I stared at him irritated and confused. He kept petting my head. I would ripped his hand off my head, but I didn't want to. I never felt this feeling for awhile, I'd almost forgot what it was like. To be confronted.

And so the man took me in, despite that I was Tiefling. He taught me how to read, to cook, even some healing spells. He was a Herbalist and a Potion Maker and he had his own shop and everything, and his name was Scott Bareare.

To others he was a shopkeeper, but to me... he was like a father I never had. Every now and then Scott would let me hold shop when he gone get herbs. It was fun, and sometimes I rat out some of the customers money. Except people who come to shop often, because they know all my tricks.

Most customers would obviously be human, but sometimes we have days when it's people that are not human. The customer who come here the most has to be Varis Amakiir the elf, him and Scott are real old friends. When he first saw me, he immediately told Scott how Tiefling are so lowly creatures.

Of course I bite him, no surprise there. But through time, we got along. But when you see Varis left hand, you can still see my bite mark. Varis was about over a hundred years old, so he had a lot of stories to tell. He told me a lot of story about how him and Scott were when they were still adventurers.

Scott was very forgetful and because of that I was the one who have to make sure Scott doesn't goofed himself. So I was the one who had to do the chorus around the shop, including groceries. Sometimes I see my siblings but I don't talk to them nor let them see me. I don't want Scott to know, I don't how he'll react.

Part III

It's been two years. I'm around nine years old, and I got more confident with others now. A lot of people like me and hate me. But that's okay. My favorite place to go in the town of Mordai Glory, would be... the church.

Because I get to see Mordai Glory grave, along with all the other heroes. This town also have a different name: the town of new heroes. And I dreamed to be one, who wouldn't. I meet this girl every time I go to church. She was nice, but maybe a bit too nice for her own good. Sally Evenwood was her name.

I had old friend living the poor life of the town because he wants to. He actually a hier to a very rich family, but he ran away. He lives the poor life and he loves it. He's a weird guy, but I guess that's the reason why I'm friends with him. He's loud, funny, annoying, smart, sneaky, caring, a true utter fool. But that's what makes him hero. He's human, but he's accepted me for who I am. Another reason why he's a hero. His name was Perrin Grim and he is my best friend.

One day there was a fire, Scott... died. But not from the fire, he was killed. The fire was to burn the tracks. It broke me, my whole world was crumbling down. I managed to save some old photos and other items form getting burn in the fire. I saw the killer, she was standing right in front of me. And I'd let her kill him. I knew who she was, but no one would ever believe me if I told anyone.

Her name was Buttercup Evenwood, Sally's older sister. Why? Why dose this happen to me? Why?

Part V

I had no one to turn to, so Varis took me in. Varis didn't lived in town, but he lived nare. He lived in Tealeaf woods. The woods lays right next to town, so it kind of explains of all the monsters entering the city. The forest was named by a Hafling believe it or not. The hafling name was Bree Tealeaf, hints the name. She was also a good friend to the great hero Mordai The Glory. I saw her grave close to the forest.

I was still depressed about Scott's death. I'd kept this glasses like a remainder for all the good times we spent together over the two years.

Then Varis asked me something "Leucis your name right?" I nodded my head. "Well till now I'll apose you a new name." I stared at Varis confused and concern. "What's that going to do?" I asked. He look at me and laughed "You really don't understand? It's quite simple. You been called that name of envy and regret for all your life! So for that you need a new a new name, so the chain ties down your heart will finally be more lighter." Varis explain.

"Yes! Today forward, you'll be named Bryn! Bryn Scott!" When he said that, I felt a huge weight was lifted from chest. I finally feel to start a new. No more regret on the past. What happened, happens. Given a new name was a game changer for me.

Several years has past, and all I've doing was spending time with Varis. He was basically my teacher, I learned about a lot of things. Not just about collecting herbs and potion making. He taught me how to some defense spells. And how to hunt with bow and arrow. How to be track down unwanted guest. And he let me even read all different types of books about races and creatures. I even learn how to fight hand-to-hand combat, that was the most thing Varis was teaching the past years.

I'm fifteen years old, wow... I wounder how's Perrin doing? Hope he's doing okay. I was so busy with reading books and training I'd forgotten to visit him. I wounder if he still remembered me. Knowing him he probably looking all over town these five or six years.

"Hey Varis. I'd finished this book about elf speaking four times. Is there anything else I can do?" I said to him. He stare at me then he'd back to the book he was reading and said "You can go to town and get groceries, while you there say hi to your friends for me. I'm expecting they missed you very dearly."

I literally jumped on the walls of excitement, hearing him said that. It was a dream come true. The reunion was a bit... dramatic.

I was in town for the first time in was like forever. Town Center was more beautiful with all the wild flowers growing. As I enjoy the quiet, I heard yelling in the distance. When I turn around, I was tackle in the stomach. I look up and I saw someone with short black scruffy hair, ocean blue eyes and his ear looked like some of it was bite it off with sharp teeth. I knew this person.

"Perrin?" I said, then I noticed he was crying.

"LEUCIS! IT'S REALLY YOU! I'D THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD! DON'T EVER SCARED ME LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN! LEUCIS!" It was Perrin, and he was screaming in my ear. Guess I deserve that from not anything to him.

"Jeez Perrin. Not in the ear. Your going to make me death in this point." I told him, pushing him off of me. When I got back to my feet, Perrin was still on his knees crying. I reached out my hand to him and told him.

"Come on! We have a lot of catching up to do." He finally wiped away his tears and took my hand. I'd pulled him up, then Perrin wrapped around me and me a hug. He was started crying on my shoulder, I was annoyed by this. But Instead of pushing him away. I'd pat him on the back awkwardly. He knows I'm not used to physical contact, but he my best friend that why he doing it in the first place.

After a lot of awkward pats on the back, he finally stopped crying. We walked around town and talked about what we were doing these past several years. Of course he was looking for me all over town these years.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Sally is becoming a nun one these days." I literally felt chills crawl up my spine when he said her name. Then I looked around if she was around. Perrin place a hand on my shoulder and told me.

"Don't worry. She not at town today. She left with a group adventurers two days ago. She won't be back till next week. So relax." I took a breath of relief when said that. Seeing Sally now would be the end of me. I'm more scared of her sister now, knowing who she really is. That Sally always wears a cross necklace around her neck. And because I'm a Tiefling, you can say I grow weak when I'm nare it.

Then the worst happened "Leucis! Is that really you?!" All my hope left when I saw Sally caling my name. I looked at Perrin irritated, he look back at me scratching the back of his head, awkwardly laughing.

"Ha ha ha~ you should probably run." As he pointed at Sally running to us. He owed me big time. I instantly started running away with Sally behind my tail. How the hell can she run so fast? She's human how can that be possible, doesn't matter how much I train. She always able to catch up me. Is this girl even human?! Doesn't really matter... now at least.

Part VI

She chanced me all around town. Luckily despite she fast, she still get tired. I was saved. I lost her and stopped at the church. I was never allowed to go inside, and why would I. The cross on top of the church makes a barrier for all evil. And because I'm a Tiefling, obviously I can't get in even if I wanted to.

But even so... I'd always liked see the events happening around it, and I'd liked the church's music. As I listen the beautiful harmony coming from the church, I heard a voice. It was quiet but it got louder. It said "all sinner will be rises from God's justice and forgiveness."

I had no idea where the voice came from but it only ignore it. This always happens when I was a kid too, when ever I was nare the church. So you could say I'm used to it. But then it got louder, and felt my head was ringing. It hurt really badly. I was on my knees covering my ears, but it didn't helped at all. It only got louder and louder, it wouldn't stop.

Then I got whacked on the head. The ringing was gone, but voice remained. I turn around and saw it was someone, wearing strange like clothing. I couldn't see probably because when this person hit me, my glasses flew off. Then I got up and got a better look, it was a high elf priest. He looked my age, highly doubt that though. Why he was there? I never knew.

He then asked me "foolish devil. Why are you on holy grounds?" His eyes looked cold and dead.

"I was just been chases by a crazy girl, I came here so I relax for a bit. Before she finds me." His face was a scrunched up, he obviously unpleasant.

"How can I tell your not lying to me." The elf scoffed.

"What would I get if I did?" I responded to him with a smug expression.

He stared down at me, his aora made me feel like was nothing but ant and he was a giant hammer going to squash me. That how it was between us. He took my wrist and dragged me towards the church.

"Wait! I can't go in there. Please there is a barrier that forbids me to go through. Let me go!" He didn't listen. For a priest he was sure rude. I close my eyes waiting for the impact of the barrier. But nothing happened, before I'd knew it me and the elf were at the door.

"But how?" As my mouth dropped in shock.

"You foolish devil. The cross warns off everything that's evil. Only sinners can't pass through. But you are no sinner." Explained the elf priest.

I was confused about this, Tiefling are sinners? What did that made of Mordai Glory then. I was amazed about how large the church was inside.

"Is this real?" I said still amazed about being inside the church. The priest still was holding my wrist, and then felt a slight tug before I was dragged again. He drags me in front of the praying pedestal. He puts me on my knees and told me to pray. I'd never really prayed before, so it was kind a new for me.

He told me what to do and I'd gladly do it. Which made him hesitate, and I don't blame him after all a Tiefling not minding the fact he being demand to pray. It's not something you see everyday. And that was first time I'd ever pray. It was strange, like a pair of gentle arms took hold of me while I'd prayed.

I'd open my eyes and saw this bright light. The voice came back but said something else. It said "dear child of darkness. You have a true pure spirit. You always been disgrace by many. Out of pity, I'll give you a gift. A name so you will never be discard ever again. It's true you have given the name Bryn. But with this name you can walk holy grounds anytime you want. Listen child, for the name I give you is... Akroor."

The light went away as well the voice. I not sure who talked to me that day, my best guess was God. But how? And why? Why?

Part VII

After that, I stood up and turn to the priest. He had his hands cross but his face has soften. He brought out his hand, I hesitant and take a step back. He chuckled then simply took my hand and shake it.

"I misjudged you devil. Your not bad a guy. Names Tully, Tully Liadon. Oh, here are your glasses. Sorry about of all that... I wasn't sure if you were good not so... well you know the rest." He was being nice. This elf was being nice to me. Varis was right. You just don't know who you'll met in this world.

"It's alright. I never knew I could even pass through the barrier. I never pray before either, so you could say it was a new experience. Oh, and thank you for my glasses. I can't see a thing without these." Ever since that day Tully and I were good friends. It turns out Tully is a elf druid. Even Perrin got to liked him. He's a real likeable guy with he's not angry.

His story was that he got himself kicked out of his elf city, and his family totally disowned him. He done a crime that turn his family to shame, that's why he came to Mordai Glory. He said that the legendary elf from the story of Mordai Glory lived nare the city.

"Nope. Don't know about any legendary elf. But... I do live with a elf who's over a hundred years old. Varis Amakiir is his name, and he been raising me for six years." Tully then begged me to introduce to Varis, so he can stop begging I'd did.

After I did though, Varis totally discard him. I growled at Varis about this, then I came to comfort Tully. "Tully... I know you done some bad things. You done those things. So why are you weeping about it? The past is the past, there nothing you can do to change it. All you can do is learn from it and lead yourself to a brighter future." Then Tully brought me into a hug, I'd awkwardly pat him on the back.

He finally pulled away and wiped away his tears. He spoke "Thank you Akroor. You really nice for devil you know that?" I shaken my head in response.

After the druid left, I saw Varis pissed off. I talked with him, he was obviously mad at me even if he tries to hide it. We argue for awhile until I woke up in Varis arms. I didn't notice when we fell asleep.

Part VIII

Years flew by and Perrin has become an adventurer, Sally is a nun and Tully has become an adventurer with Perrin. As for I... I'm became a priest. Surprising? Yes, yes it is. If Sally and Tully didn't helped me, I don't think I'll ever be accepted by the nuns. Five years... it was five years. Varis hasn't changed, of course. Now and again I would visit the graves, mostly Scott grave.

One day I had a job from the church. The job was delivered a basket of food to a blacksmith as a thank you gift, for all the things he does for the church. He was nice, but he was also... intense. Then I realized why the send me for this job. The guy was a nutcase.

He was dwarf named Orsik Ironfist. The descendant Flint Ironfist, one of the great hero of Mordai Glory. A blacksmith and a friend to Mordai, he pretty well know around here. That why I'd accepted this job in the first place.

"Ay! You wanna to be a hero?" I nodded my head. He strokes his beard then walk away, and came back with an old treasure chest. He did a hand gesture telling me to come closer. I walked beside him, and he slowly open the treasure chest. It was full with gold, then Orsik whispered in my ear and told.

"What ever happens here, never happened. Got it?" I nodded my head again, but confused. I know he's a dwarf, and do love gold. But what does this lead to my question. He then barred his hands into the gold, he slowly brought out a magical sword. The aora surrounding it then became visible when it came out of the gold, it brought chills up my spine.

"This was given to me from my great ancestors. My family has been carrying this curse sword for sentries. It's name... is Demiurge." My whole body was shaking all over. Demiurge: the sword that could cut down an army of Orcs with one swing if used right. This was Mordai Glory wepon, his key of almost all of his victory.

It was absolutely terrifying, but yet it looked beautiful. It was all black, that what you would expect from demon blade. It was a claymore sword, the tip of it look sharper than any blade I've seen. The handle had a upside-down cross on it. At the end of handle it had a strange looking orb, with something inside.

The thing inside the orb started to move, it turns around and stared at me. Then I heard a voice, but this voice sounded angry like it was in pain. It said "Mordai... MORDAI! Are you listening to me! Hey! I'm talking to you! You baster! How dare you left me in the dust for all these years! You swared to me, you gave me your word! You said you will never leave me! You promised that you'll never LEAVE ME! What happened to that?! Mordai! Mordai! Mordai! MORDAI!" I'd step back and respond "I'm not Mordai."

Orsik looked at me confused and then he realized I wasn't talking to him, but the sword. A black fog clouded the sword around it. Orsik then place it gently in the gold. Then the sword continued to speak.

"Where is he?" I gulped. I looked away out of guilt. It's years since Mordai died, so how am I supposed to tell this sword that his master is gone. Then I turn back to the sword and told Demiurge the truth.

"Mordai died many years ago. Currently now he's called a hero. Mordai Glory, the Tiefling who never been defeated." The sword kept staring at me, then water or whatever it is was dripping down from its orb. 'Is he crying' I thought.

"I had a dream. It was about me and Mordai... we were on a job request. To slay some monsters together. It was lie. We were ambushed by some adventurers from the guild. In reality the guild betrayed us, and let us to an isolated spot to die. It wasn't to bad a problem though. Me and Mordai win of course. But... something happened. Mordai grew sick because someone put poison his drink. Varis trys his best to help. But nothing worked, the poison was too strong. And then he died..." After the sword his story, I realized I was crying as well. And immediately wiped my tears away.

Orsik placed a hand on my shoulder and then nodded his head. I knew what he was trying to say, I walked up to sword and asked it. "Do you want to go and see his grave?" Demiurge 'tears' went away and he responded "you would do that? But why? Aren't you a priest?" I then explained to Demiurge all the reason why I would do it. One of them was because Demiurge was the wepon of my hero and brotherly Tiefling. It would be honorable to just touch such destructive wepon.

Afterwards, I manged to sneak in the graveyard without spotting me with the sword. I'd placed Demiurge in fornt of Mordai grave. We stayed there for hours in silence. It was getting late so I getting ready to leave, I was going to reach out from the sword. But then I thought it was better to leave him at the grave for awhile longer. Then I thought the word leave, a word I knew too well.

  • Lost
  • Empty
  • Abandoned
  • Vacant
  • Entirely alone

So I'd stayed with the howling sword all night long. When I woke up in the morning, the sword was gone and had black tattoos on my left arm down to my right leg. Then one of the nuns of the church saw my tattoos, and there face were in shock. She then dragged me into the church and put me into purifying spirng. And it hurt as hell when was in, my tattoos felt like I was on fire. Nuns all bathed me, and tried to wash off my tattoos.

But it didn't work. After that I was banished from the church and no one could say other wises about it. I went to Varis for help, and he asks me a question. "Was the sword beside you when you feel asleep?" I said yes, then he sigh and explained. You see... I was cursed by the sword, both me and Demiurge were fused into one person. That explains the demon tattoos. He also explained that I shouldn't worry about too much it because I'm still me but I just have some trait of Demiurge.

I've also have some of Demiurge's abilities, like I can summon Demiurge sword form by using my tattoos. And use Demiurge form to attack emeny any time I want, with a bit of practice. Now ever since that day people tell me all the same thing.

"Do you work the devil?" And this what say back.

"No. I don't work for the devil. For as you see... !!I AM THE DEVIL!!"

Part IX

A month has past by and it's been good really. Sure the nuns don't look at me the same way anymore, but I'm still can go to graveyard so I'm all go. I've also became an adventurer and joined Perrin and Tully. I only wish that Sally will stop clinching on to me. That not all, for some reason buch of girls have been bothering me. I hate it!

Then Perrin was just teasing me and Tully were nagging. It was so annoying, seriously why can't they just stop bothering me. Why me? Why?

One day, I met a girl adventurer. She was bard and she was very very strong. Seriously, fighting her was like fighting an Orc maybe. Her name was Aníkitos Oraíos, Bard of the east. She was my first rival and maybe even my first love.

Her music was beautiful, but her battle skills was engaging. Her mother is a bard and her father is a monk. So you could say Aníkitos got some fighting experience for her father. Because of that she was always to beat me. That she is in a way higher level than me. And she gain experience point fast than any normal adventurer, that how she became so well known.

When I'd first met her, she was in a crowd playing music. When someone mentioned her name I'd rapidly rush past the crowd and ask Aníkitos for a fight. She accept and... she won. Afterwards I stay with her, we talked. Then Sally came along and said "Leucis! How could you?! You have a girlfriend?!!" I looked at Sally and sigh "What are you going on about? You do realize she not from here, right?" "Oh, is that so?!" Sally said sarcastically. She then pointed at Aníkitos a roared "Listen you, little miss whoever you are. Leucis is mine, you hear that. Don't do any funny business or else I'll kill you! Got it."

I place my palm on my forehead and sigh again. "Sally... she is Aníkitos Oraíos. The Bard Of The East, one of the champions of the land." Sally whole expression completely changed from frustrated to terrified. Because she always wanted to met her in person, and now she just insulted her. Poor Sally, she probably feels real bad right now. "Really?! Have to be kidding me! That mean the reason why your talking to her is only because is to gain advice! I'm such a fool, please forgive me!" She weep bowing her head to Aníkitos.

Aníkitos then grab her guitar and played a lovely melody. In her song she explained why she became a bard, how she became so strong and where she heading to archive. It was amazing, I felt my soul was walking on air. At end of her song she forgive Sally and then Sally just ran away saying "Thank for time! I'll leave you be now!"

Then me an Aníkitos began talking again. We talked about a lot of things, like what our hopes dreams. Which leaded to one thing and another. "Oh, you want to be a hero? You must be Mordai Glory fan. Am I right?" Aníkitos chuckled, I pulled a devilishly grin and said "Wasn't it obviously? It's is the reason why I'm talking to you after all." She then glare at me evil like. The rumors are true, she is loved and feared. "Well nice chat but I better be going. See you around... lady killer.~" that what she said before we parted paths. But when we met each other, she acts flirty. For once I'm actually happy being a chick magnet.

Bard of the east. One of the most strongest adventurers a crossed, along with: Palaidin of the North. Rogue of the West and Wizard of the South. Together they are called The Champions Of The Land.

They are concerned as heroes on the eye of the public. So you can see why I'm trying to defend her so much. I... I want to be a hero. That's always been my dream. To archive that I have prove that I can survive a fight. To show that I can fight and win like Mordai Glory!

And through the last five years, I left my old group because our lack of money. So I join another group. And that how I'd end up with these idiots. But you now what, it's fine. They maybe idiots but to be honest, there like brothers to me. So I guess that okay. That's the end of this story about Demiurge • Leucis • Bryn • Scott.
