It's 3 am. She hears a noise. She goes to check on it and sees nothing. Creaks in the walls, wailing of the wind. It's 3 am and she can't sleep. Something feels different. It's so loud outside but so quiet and still. She lets her dog out, hoping the dark night will tire her out. She lifts one foot off the bed. Suddenly, her dog starts barking. Frightened, she says "don't worry, it's just me silly". Hoping it was. She opens her bedroom door when the dog runs to a different room and stays. She felt a gust of wind, but it wasn't from outside. This wind was cold, internally and externally. She jumped back with a shock, runs back to her room. "I sleep in here every night, it's okay. I'm safe in here, obviously I must be". Much like a cat, curiosity is what killed her.
She gets back out of bed. She walked into the atramentous hall, where she hears a whisper. A whisper that left tingly hairs.
Perhaps it's just the fear and adrenaline.
She keeps walking down the hall. It seems longer than before. Is she moving with caution, or has something changed? She keeps walking, when suddenly she finds herself in an illusion. That whispering got louder, it gradually turned to yelling. She’s still unable to make out what they're saying. Suddenly, it wasn't so dark anymore. The dim light of a fire appears. As she walks closer, it illuminates more. She realizes, that it's not yelling at all. What she hears is a scream. A plead for mercy. The light of the fire is the spark of this cause. She notices. Someone is being burned alive. Tied to a log, being turned over the fire. At this point, she's aware it's just an illusion. But it seems so real. Her heart racing, she lets out a scream. She hears something, a new noise. Of leaves crispy died leaves being crunched under a shoe, twigs breaking. Her palms are sweating from the heat of the fire. "IT'S JUST A DREAM, IT'S JUST A DREAM" she tells herself, holding her hands on her ears to stop the screaming.  The noise is making her heartbeat like a Jack Rabbits thumping foot, she's trembling with fear, not ready to handle what is next to come. She moves away from the noise, closer to the fire. To see, the burning person in this illusion is actually her, being turned over a fire, every inch of her skin boiling and tearing a part. She tried to run but she cannot. In an instance, she is no longer seeing this, but she is now in the presence of that illusion, tied on the log rotating. She doesn’t feel the pain, but she can feel the heat. Suddenly the noise has caught up. A tall dark figure appears. Lifts the log and walks with it draped on his shoulder, she's still on it, trying to stay silent. As he walks for a bit he says to her "brave girl. I haven't heard one peep from you yet".
"Do not fear me, for I am saving you in this scenario". The figure explains sociological damage. Everything is clear. She entrust, it was a dream. Sleeping soundly while subconsciously hearing her parents fighting. The whispers, they escalate to yelling, which esculates to screaming. For there was no demons, but the ones in her head. The girl awakes. It is now 5 am. Just barely the crack of dawn. The sunrise giving the same illuminating light as the fire. She wants to clear her mind. She goes to the river, where the trees surround. Logs, like the one that almost ended it all for her. She stands on the bridge and whispers "life is just one bad dream". She then yells, conflicting her thoughts. She screams, as she falls into the water. To end this scary story, her nightmare
