Days Like These

Can I be a kid again
To experience the world carefree?
Just one more day with friends
Where we can embrace our immaturity.
My mother never warned of days like these-
Times that feels like suffocation,
Enslaved to bills and responsibilities
That I lose all sensation.
Life is no longer as colorful as before
Through these puffy, red eyes.
I am searching for something more
Than the same old thing in disguise.
I wish someone would have told me
That life would be like this.
Maybe that is why friends and family
Older than me always reminisced.
