You came knocking on my door

With no intention of coming in.

Oblivious,

I rushed to let you in.

You came bearing thorn bushes,

But you labelled them flowers so I accepted

And ignored the blood flowing from my palms,

The wrapped box gift you brought me was better look at.

Right from the doorway,

You stripped me naked,

Making me believe you'd keep me warm.

With words none other had initially uttered,

You caressed my soul and aroused my trust.

And soon,

As butter tossed into a hot pan,

I was, at your mercy...

But when I was at my most vulnerable,

You walked off in total, unexplained and inconsiderate silence.

I stretched myself following,

But I was soon to reach my limit of proportion.

But even sooner,

You'd vanished into thin air.

My address however, still hasn't changed.

Yet I wouldn't dare open the door

If you came knocking again.

Coz now I'm awakened to the fact that

There was never anything wrong with me,

My perfection lies in my openness to being perfected,

Right from the start,

The problem lay with "Mr. Perfect"

But you're just too cold to notice

And the problem with people with a problem is that they make you feel like you're the one with the problem.

So I choose to burn this box of empty promises you left at my door step.

I swear this ocean in my eyes will dry up.

You're not worth the waters my pillow's had to absorb
