The Fire Read Count : 92

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A

Why can I not, within me, cool the heat,

For embers, slowly dying, cease to die,

Each time I sit alone, they do repeat,

The picture that I painted in the eye,

An image is enough to spark the flame,

A sight, would pour upon it, gasoline,

Forgive me please, I’m not solely to blame,

These feelings burned within me unforeseen,

Lord, help me please, extinguish these for good,

At least enough to let me get some rest,

I know I’ve not always lived like I should,

With tortured heart on sleeve I’ve tried my best,

Above all else you can’t call me a liar,

In honesty, I can’t withstand this fire.

(My first poem from my fourth collection. If you want to know about my previous three, message me)

Let me know what you think 😊
