War.

It has been going on for years. They finally found out who we are and now they will destroy us. Destroy all of us. Not one of us will escape, they will kill themselves of they have to just to get to us.

I lay in a trench somewhere in Europe, I can't tell you where for borders had lost their meaning and confusion was the only true leader. I was cold, wet, and scared. It was storming, lightning flashed across the sky and thunder roared withh all its might, mother nature trying to show that she could outdo our own thunder but ours almost drained out hers entirely.

Men and women and children fell dead all around me and it looked as if I would soon join them in their pointless deaths. Another grenade was thrown my way and it almost hit my head but instead it flew past but I still got shrapnel embedded in my leg.

Everything was chaos. Everything was horror. Everything was at war.

And then everything exploded.

They didn't care that they blew up their own troops as well as my people they dropped the bomb anyway. To them we were the greatest evil and we had to be destroyed no matter what. We were the villains even though we had done nothing but exist, and because we existed we had to be destroyed.

And so the world exploded.

But for some reason I had to live through it all. The burning searing pain, blacking out because I couldn't take it anymore, waking up to a wasteland devoid of even the carcasses of the fallen.

And I was alone in the silence, the silence of the grave itself.

As the dust slowly settled around me I looked up into the sky and saw that the bomb blew even the storm away. I got up to see that I now stood in the middle of a crater miles across with no living thing in sight. Everything had been pulverized.

I was so alone.

I wander in this eternal wasteland by myself my shadow is my only company. Cursed to be alone forever and to live forever even after all else has died.

I am immortal just as my curse is immortal, and all because they just couldn't let my kin and I live in peace.
