I woke up in the middle of the night shaking like a leaf. It was that dream again, the one where I get chased by some sort of shadowy creature. I laid back tried to go back to sleep but sleep wouldn't come. There was something nagging at my mind and I just couldn't rest. Neither could I just continue to lay there.

I got up almost without thinking and walked out of my room and out the front door and headed towards the woods in my backyard. Eventually I reached a small clearing in the forest and I sat down on a  and looked up at the night sky. The moon was round and full and a million stars twinkled. The night air was crisp and cool and I was able to start relaxing. A wolf howled in the distance, a sad and lonely sound, and an owl hooted in a tree not too far off to my right. I saw a deer run between trees in front of me. Crickets chirped all around. The night was peaceful.

And then it wasn't.

A great bellow sounded just behind me and when I looked a creature wrapped in shadows stood there and growled at me. I turned and ran for dear life and I could hear fast and heavy footfalls behind me. I ran and ran until I couldn't run anymore. I stumbled on a rock and hit the ground hard. I rolled onto my back just in time to see the creature lunge at me, it's jaws wrapping around my throat. And then all was darkness.

When I woke up the sun was shining through my window and birds were chirping. I got up and stretched then went into the bathroom to take a shower when I glanced into the mirror. There were marks and bruises all along my throat and my face was dust covered. I looked down and saw that I had a scraped knee. I looked back up into my reflection and when I did my reflection's eyes turned blacker than the deepest pit. I jumped back and yelped but my reflection was still for a few second and then it slowly grinned.

"Hello child, we meet at last." It said.

A hand reached out of the mirror and grabbed my hand and then I was pulled through into oblivion.
