I hear so many of my customers say “ohh I don’t have money for salon products, it’s so expensive!”
Here’s the truth: what you buy at your local drugstore and what you buy in a salon are like night and day. It’s not a marketing tool, we are not trying to brainwash you into buying our products, it really is better for your hair AND a better deal & here is why. Anything you buy over the counter (example: Tresemme, Pantene, Herbal Essence) is basically dish soap with added perfume and a wax coating in it. So if you really want to save your money, go buy dish soap! But guess what, you’re not really “saving” money by shopping the hair product isle of Walmart. Look at the first ingredient on the bottle, it’s water. The product you are using on your hair is watered down, along with providing no real benefit to your hair. Have you noticed you need to glob lots of shampoo on your head just to get it to lather up? Professional shampoo is different because it is very concentrated. One pump of a salon product shampoo and your hair will lather, so the product lasts way longer. When you buy a bottle of shampoo from my shop it will last you 6 months, in comparison to the bottle you are going thru every 2-3 weeks. So in the long run, it’s actually cheaper to invest in the product from your local salon. But that’s not all. What is in your drug store bottle of shampoo? Here’s the breakdown:
Besides mostly water, there is a harsh soap in your bottle of Herbal Essence. The cheap cleanser doesn’t gently cleanse your scalp, it dries it out. It dries your hair out too, stripping out all of it’s natural oils. So what does your scalp do? It produces more oil and buildup. Notice your scalp is greasy towards the middle of the day? This is not normal and it is not a sign of healthy hair or a healthy scalp. So now that your hair is dried out, we are going to coat your hair with wax, or what you would call your drugstore conditioner. Now you have a greasy scalp and what feels like waxy coated ends. This ultimately leads to dry brittle hair that breaks off. When you use over the counter shampoo & conditioner, you are not really cleaning your scalp, instead you are drying it out and telling the scalp to product more oil. Then you are coating it with wax instead of bringing it back down to a normal PH level and actually conditioning it with protein and natural oils. There is no benefit to drug store hair products.
Here is the difference when it comes to professional hair products:
*professional hair products are specially formulated by scientists to preserve the integrity and health of your hair
*the shampoo has a higher PH to open the cuticle of you hair and gently remove any oil and dirt from your scalp, it actually removes buildup
*the shampoo conditions your scalp instead of drying it out
*it helps maintain a clean healthy scalp and regulates normal oil production
*the conditioner has a lower PH, so it helps the hair return back to a healthy PH level after you have removed the dirt from your hair
* the conditioner it not weighed down with a wax coating so it leaves the hair fluffy and soft, and restores the hairs protein
*the conditioner leaves the hair healthy with normal PH levels and helps remove tangles
* end result: your scalp is truly clean, so you don’t have to worry about a greasy scalp in fact you can go a day without washing again if you feel like, and the conditioner restores your hair to a light silky consistency.
Here’s something else to keep in mind. Drug store shampoo strips your hair. Not only does it strip the natural oils out of your hair, it will strip out your color. I always recommend a professional shampoo and conditioner after a color treatment. Don’t go spending your money on a salon quality color just to ruin it with garbage hair products. The only way to have beautiful healthy hair is to take care of it
