There is an inner depression lingering among us. We are individual actors in a larger drama and we each make an Influence on a larger despair. Each one of us copes with intense amounts of chaos, anxiety, or fears, personally and collectively—as a whole. We are all being challenged in a way to recreate our lives.

We are all actors in an unfolding drama, where there are no great performances and nothing changes; however, there would be if we begin to dig deeper within ourselves and find our inner pain and struggle. With major world events occurring, we are challenged to develop a more developed consciousness. Yet, we cannot do this without facing the things that hurt us.

This depression we put out today, I believe, is the fear and anxiety inside of all of us—whether it’s about where our next paycheck comes from, our horrible childhood, or the constant feeling that the world is coming to an end. We are simply not talking about it.

When it comes to everyday conversation, we conspire with each other to pretend that things are okay. Not because we think everything is okay, but because we have no way of talking to one another about those deeper layers of experience. I call it, “The Waltz of the Fallacies.”

We don’t ever speak about how we truly feel about things, so we continue talking about other things—gossip, the Kardashian’s, Hollywood entertainment. These are distractions from dealing with the real, more painful, and personal issues. It’s an avoidance behavior.

But of course we want to avoid talking about and feeling the pains all over again. However, by doing so, we inevitably cause more of it.

This is where we are today in society: We are acting out our anger and fear is because we are not facing the depth of our pain. Things in the past would get bad before and I always had a sense that everything would be OK. Now, I don’t feel that way.

Even in music and movies, people put their painful struggles out there for the world to see—artists such as,Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Rihanna sing about survival. If it’s on the radio and in movies, why can’t we talk about it with each other? Why can’t we talk about our struggles and pain?

Because it makes us vulnerable?

Because it strips us of our clothes and armor, leaving us naked for the world to see?

Well what if everyone were naked, where you could see all their unique scars and birthmarks, and they can see yours as well, doesn’t that make it easier?

This is how we can change the world. They say, “Stars don’t shine without darkness,” so, show your painful dark side.

Be the star against your darkness and shine bright.

Along with all the beauty in the world, there is also pain. Its inevitable and we can’t do anything about it. Except, choose not to suffer by sharing it.

For if it takes pain to make beauty, then I feel pretty damn beautiful.
