There are 2 ways to go around in life.

Passive

Aggressive

Sometimes one gets confused with the other. This is something I've gotten in trouble with writing teachers. Writing something too aggressive when I was supposed to sound more passive. Whenever I try to send an email or letter, I come across the same problem over and over again. The words “Thank you”.

Shouldn't be too hard, right? Thank you is a compliment. Very passive. Until it is not. Thank you in a polite way is very passive, but there's this dreadful thing in language called sarcasm. Whenever I write to a teacher, I need to think of the tone of my writings, I'm often writing about issues I'm facing so what I write can very easily be taken as complaining, Annoyed, and in some cases just being rude.

Just yesterday I had to write to a teacher through an online class about an issue preventing me from submitting a certain assignment. I wanted to end it with appreciation to the teacher for taking time to help. Do I put “Thank you” “Thanks for your help” Or “Thanks a bunch.” I wanted to sound thankful not sarcastic. After 10 minutes of thinking I eventually decided to go with “Thank You!!!” but how easily could I have sounded sarcastic and angry.

Example of Passive Aggressive tugging war, changing meanings completely till there's nothing but doubt and fear of writing.
