By' Jeffrey Stevens

  • When I'm gone from days of depression,
  • I'll hit a backkwoods holler, and raise the volume, to the sounds of country music,
  • And as it rumbles from my speakers,
  • It takes my mind away from all the pain, and negativity, that surrounds me,
  • While I get lost in all my thoughts, I set and think,
  • I dream of the day, i shall open my eyes, To watch the sun rise, while the previous words of hurt, disappear through yesterday's past, fadeing through the stillness of time.
  • The lies, the hate, there are no reasons for.
  • And one day you shall see, Those  words of hurt  you spoke, Along with the lies You have told,
  • they Shall hurt my soul no more,
  • Yesterday's gone, you to will grow old,
  • Just remember the pain you've caused while you feel what I've felt From reaping, your words of hurt, and the lies you've sown.
  • All that and the pain you brought  have seemed to compile into a humongous  smothering shadow of  darkness that has blotted out the ray of light, that once gave me the willpower to shine,
  • I will not let darkness defeat me, I will rise up through the shadows, and walk through the ashes, of every bridge I've burnt,
  • they will see that while they were hopeing  I was nothing,
  • Well my dreams, visions, and country music painted me a picture today,
  • And "oh man" let me tell you.In it I was something.

  • Dream big, hope high, will power strong, praise God, love life, hurt no one.....
