Will fun become illegal?

If you ask a parent, “what is different now compared to when you were a kid?” Most of them would go on about “kids played in trees, now they cant play without batteries”. But why does it seem like climbing a tree is looked down on today?

The world seems to have focused on “safety”... they don't want kids doing unsafe things. And it seems like the law has caught up to it. Making tresspassing laws, and prohibiting playing in certain areas. My parents always seem to talk about all the times a group of friends decided to climb mountains. And they would just pack a lunch and GO!

Now the areas they climbed are on private property, and you could get arrested for trying. And the law's seemed to have “taken care” of what you can or can't do, making sure we keep to 2 feet paths when we go hiking, and whatnot…

Climbing a tree=kids broken bones, let's prohibit that.

Hiking=getting lost and wild animal dangers, Let's make a sidewalk and fence on the mountain.

Boating= prohibited to an extent. What USED to be a form of travel, now you can do it in designed lakes as long as you avoid half of it due to the stupid dam they desided to place.

Rapid riding, they wanna make a $2million dam so it is illegal everywhere.

Riding on the back of a truck, I've never done it, they made it illegal for safety reasons, but I HEAR it was fun for my parents and grandparents. Hooray for THEM.

Going into a ditch to play, the town desided hey lets run this very important wire by the ditch so kids can never play in it again. (The most recent thing made illegal in my area.) I know, WHAT THE HECK?!

Seriously what happened to the fun? Even if it makes the world more dangerous, That was LIFE a generation ago! And it seems like the world just wants kids to be safe, not having the same fun. Then they want us to go get exercise doing sports or something, then they pull up the old excise “When I was your age, I did this crazy thing” they forget to say, half of the things they did have been made illegal now. And Not every kid likes basketball, as with the other sports, have you tried playing them alone?!

No grown-up seems to stop and think about fun for their kids, only safety. Safety, safety, safety. Safety has overridden fun, something that wasnt in place some 30 years ago. And what did the pioneers do? Walked the entire country with no boundaries. No fences, noone telling them it is illehal to do this, go here, stay out of this. Now when a kid is in a little play car some adults want to limit their use of the toy to the driveway. Will things I've done, and things I'm doing now become illegal because 1 mistake made by stupidity of another will make the law realise that 1 stupid person = the mind of the other 1,000 that didn't get injured.

And if you are lucky enough to do some of these things, use it! ‘cause it might become illegal when the neighborhood idiot decudes to take their turn… media is freeing to some people, grownups should try to figure that out someday.

(My opinion on the ubsured laws we've gotten around here. Whether they are trying to watch kids like a hawk, or trying go protect something stupid like a mountain from "erosion", the law is being overprotective. Some things parent's say they did is becoming SUPER HARD to believe.)

  • If you never brake a bone, your not really having fun. That's how I live. And, I've done all those things... riding in the bed of a truck is fun. Also hopping in after it's moving... That's probably my Texan talking anyhow. My brother once broke his ass falling out if tree, lol.
