She looked at the inescapable room, the key in her hand, then at her friends. It seemed so easy at the time to agree to it.

Now it’s even easier.

Mara had no second thoughts when she pushed the key into the key hole, the click startling the others from their confusion. When the water came rushing from the holes in the walls and they came running to the door, pounding and screaming, Mara thought she should give a sad smile or something but all she could do was...

“Ha! Got ya!” Jilli shouted, moving her character, Mara, to the area she met the shady dealer, to collect her reward.

“Aw, come on, Jills!” Her friend Quincy yelled as he watched his character, Jope, drown in the room. “I was just about to get a new laser gun!”

“Yeah, Jilli, real cold.” Kristine muttered, pointlessly pressing buttons on her controller.

“Hey,” Jilli said, pulling her arms behind her head as the victory screen played, “if you’re not ready to be betrayed in ‘The Gray Morals’ you really shouldn’t be playing.”

“So, that’s what?” Marcus interrupted, looking up from a notebook. “Five wins for Jill, none for everyone else?”

“Yup!” Jilli chirped, tossing a piece of popcorn into her open mouth.

“Ok, then I guess Jilli wins game night today, I’ll see you two tomorrow.”

“Bye!”

“See ya.”

Kristine stood up and started cleaning up the snacks as the boys left and Jilli put away her game.

“How are you so good at that?”

“Simple,” Jilli replied, taking a cheese ball and balancing it on her nose, “I just pretend it’s life or death.” And with that, she bounced the cheese ball into her mouth and left to her room, leaving Kristine to clean up the carnage Monopoly wrought.
