Joanne tumbled out of bed as she realized she'd left her phone under her pillow. She picked it up and answered the call, her eyes still adjusting to the light. "Hello?" she said, attempting (and failing) to stifle a yawn. "How can you still be tired!?" her best friend Kate Robinson asked. Joanne checked the time on her phone and almost dropped it as she saw how late it was. "Are you still there? I didn't know that you like to skip work," Kate giggled. "Bye!" Joanne said as she switched her phone off. She quickly put her police uniform on and unknowingly put 2 different coloured socks on: one red, one blue. She brushed her teeth and took her burnt toast out of the grill. She sighed and threw it in the bin. Joanne grabbed an apple and her house keys and slammed the door shut. 

As she reported to the front desk, she received a glare from her boss. "Why the hell are you late?" Dylan Rodricola asked, his brows furrowed. "I-I-I overslept?" Joanne innocently replied. Dylan took a deep breath. "Don't let it happen again. You're already on strike one. You know I don't want you to leave the force but I'll have no choice but to sack you myself if you message up two more times," he explained. At least my life can't get any worse, she thought. Joanne was about to realize how very wrong she was...
