As a kid, I had thought I had a rough time. When I was five, I lived a great life with rich parents who got what I wanted, until my father got killed in a terrorist attack. 

From there, my life turned downhill, and night after night, I would go home to cleaning up cans of beer bottles and my passed out mom. I remembered thinking about how shitty my mother became, and how despair filled my life became when I lost everything- moving to a new school, losing my house and gifts that my parents had bought for me, and my old family life of happiness and bliss. It was then I realized I had been the luckiest girl in the world. 

I still remembered that attack, when flames shot out of the hooded man’s hands and hit my father on the chest, the feeling of helplessness when he started screaming in pain. But he still walked away from me even though I tried to run towards him. Of course he didn’t want me to catch on fire or breathe in the ash and smoke. I was powerless as he burned to death right in front of me. 

If only I had the power... but I’m just a useless talentless and stupid kid. 

It is a tradition for kids my age to discover their powers when they were five, I remembered Lucy down the street cheering and celebrating with her family when she started to make bubbles from her hands, or Stacey surprised when she shot sparks out of her palms. I remember those when I sit at home quietly at night on my bed, trying to force -something- anything out from me. Well there was blood, but that was normal. Honestly if I had power, I could’ve done something that could’ve prevented Dad’s death. 

I could’ve saved everything. 

So this is what I decided for myself, I will make a promise to myself:

1. I’ll succeed without powers and be the strongest hero and deal with the terrorists for justice! No one will have to suffer what I went through.

2. I’ll secretly kill off everyone who uses powers recklessly. Those who are undeserving of them. People will underestimate me because of my lack of powers, but I have my wit to take them out.

3. Who cares about becoming the strongest hero. All I want to do is to recover what I lost, and protect my relationship with my mom.
