I saw her again today.... that girl I used to be. Remembering my first heartbreak, sitting alone on a park bench, feeling like it was the end of the world. 
I went up to her and spoke to her as if I had gone back in time, knowing what I know today. I told her that he was a lesson and there'd be more to come. 
Each one that comes along will teach her something new, but none would hold her for too long. I explained how none of them would cherish the love she gave and that's okay because one day she would find the most beautiful and complicated soul to ever grace this world. 
I assured her that he will make her forget everything she once thought was love because he will teach her about life and that true love is just as much about someone else's happiness as it is her own. Deep love that only two lost souls can make sense of. 
"When he comes along, don't let him go," I told her. "Make it your mission everyday to keep him happy. Make him smile and though he won't believe it, tell him just how beautiful his Soul really is. Fill each of his days with love and laughter and never take one single moment with him for granted."
She smiled after our talk. I guess I had convinced her. Let's just hope I don't see the girl I used to be again anytime soon.
