The woods were quiet despite the trees swaying back and forward from the wind. They had set up their own sanctuary within the forest.  A soft cotton blanket big enough for the two of them was laid out a few feet away from the campfire. Everyone else had gone off to their own tents but she decided to stay with him a little longer.  The air was crisp, and the night was clear.  The huge trees above them gave them shelter and provided a cosy resting place.  There was a clear space for them to lie back and look straight ahead at the night sky.  Between the vast spaces and eons of darkness shone ten million stars.  The campfire they made an hour ago still crackled and burned beside them producing a warm glow that enveloped both of their hearts. Whatever happened tomorrow didn’t matter to them.  It was as if all they could do was focus on the present moment.  No words were spoken. There didn’t need to be anything but silence and relaxation. They hadn’t been alone together in a long time.  The loss of love and the loss of what could have been might break the hearts and minds of similar couples, but not tonight.
She adjusted her body on the blanket so her left arm was behind her head.  He could see the sparks of the fire shooting out from the flames from the reflection in her eyes.  Her soft blonde hair flowed down her chest and stopped at her bellybutton.  Her eyes were big and bright as the starlight shone from them.  He reached over and ran his fingers through her hair.  As she took a deep inhale, Prana running through her, she sat up on her elbows and pulled him in closer towards her.  She closed her eyes as their lips met for the first time in a long time.  Both, she especially, had lost someone very dear. The new life that was never born and never got to live, was taken from her only months ago.  A couple who supported each other and loved each other from the first conversation couldn’t do anything to save her.  The burden of loss can sometimes be too great, but not tonight. It was devastating news to her the most. He felt it too and after long spaces of silence they might find each other again at last.
Bringing back the feeling of their first kiss together a long time ago, this one felt different.  Not bad, just different. Sometimes a part of us must die, so another part can be born.  Being tortured by guilt and depression gave them a lifeline.  The connection was changing, and a new flame was born.  Her lips had the same devotion and dedication she once had, but she was resisting something.  Without saying a word, they looked at each other in the eye.  The fire raged on and was birthing a glow that grew larger.  She looked vulnerable in that moment.  The desire to find the fire that blazed in their hearts could give life at any moment.  This went beyond words and beyond just sex.  Their energy together had an attraction all on its own.  He put his hand under her jumper and placed his warm palm on her belly.  Her stomach was tingling and twitching with nervousness and anticipation.  Some people have a gift of being able to heal with the gift of their energy.  Through his hands and into his heart, he would seek to soothe her and comfort her guilt.
She lay back and closed her eyes as he left his hand on her belly, just ever so slightly pressing down.  Love might flow from the solar plexus and radiate outward to dance and mingle with a similar soul. ‘Just breathe’, he said.  ‘Think of a light blue aura of health, positivity and comfort that surrounds you’.  ‘It will guide you and give you love whenever you need it’.  With his other hand he picked up hers and kissed it several times.  He slowly removed his hand from her stomach and unbuttoned her jeans.  ‘Please just go slowly’, she said softly with concern in her voice.  ‘It’s okay, I’m here, I have you…. just breathe’.
Under the sky and the blanket of darkness, two souls that were meant for each other kept hope alive and gave a chance for new life to flourish.  Something this precious could not be taken and through all the pain, would not be forgotten.
