- Where it all began -
{ Again just a warning, swearing and gore is involved. }

"Sir, there has been a problem with virus 315.", one of my co-workers said, his tone filled with panic and terror as he pressed a pattern of buttons.

"What's the problem?" I asked approaching Ken—one of my friends but also works here in the lab—, glancing at the big tube in the middle of the room. It was filled with Green liquid, slightly thick much like slime. "We don't know, I don't understand. There seems to be an increasing of the green liquid every day, every hour, maybe even every second!", I snapped my head towards him with a glare.

"That is impossible, Ken. I've checked last time and it was the same amount how could it be increasing?", I scrunched up my nose and pushed him out of the way, moving to his spot as I pressed a pattern of buttons and pulled levers.

"But sir!", he tried pulling me away from his spot, but it ended up with me pushing a red button that who knows what it does.

"Shit!", I yelled out as I quickly stood up, the sound of an alarm booming around the area. "We have to get out of here!", I said grabbing the hands I could grab of my co-workers leading them out the room, closing the door behind me.

As soon as the door closed shut, an explosion occurred inside the room, groans and yells muffled and then silence. Complete silence.

"S-Sir...what will we do?", I glanced at Ken and the other 3 people I've managed to save. I turned my gaze back to the white door, slowly opening it.

"Oh my god!", Jess, one of mg co-worker yelled, pointing at one of the corpses laying on the ground covered with the green liquid.

The corpses suddenly rose from the ground, making me flinch and stumble backwards at he sudden movement. "Oh thank god, you guys are okay.", Ken said, approaching them.

"Let's get you guys out of he--", he was cut off by one of them grabbing Ken and biting him tearing his flesh off of his body, blood gushing out of him.

He screamed for help but all I could do was run, leaving the other two behind me. I kept running and running, Forrest Gump would be proud.

I went in my car and drove off not caring about speed limits or traffic rules, I sped up and parked right in front of my house.

I grabbed my phone and called 911.

"Hello, 911 how may I help you?"

"Please help! This is an emergency! Please warn everybody to stay in their home and board up every possible entrance!", I blurted out, practically screaming at the phone.

"Sir, please calm down. What happened?"

"A virus had escaped from the lab, it's a dangerous virus! It infects people and turns them into undead cannibals!", I said, my breathing getting heavy.

"Undead Cannibals? You mean zombies? Sir, there is no such thing."

"Oh but there is!", I said with a forced laugh, sounding through the phone. "I tell you now, that if you don't find a place to stay that is safe, you will be regretting not listening to me.", due to my anger and frustration, I hung up and threw the phone across the room.

"You're fucked.", I spat running to my shed in the backyard, grabbing wooden planks that were suppose to be a tree house— long story— along with a hammer, boxes of nails, and a hunting knife.

I ran back to my house covering every single, possible entrance there is. I grabbed the kitchen knives and weapons I could find in the house and placed them on the coffee table.

I started sharpening each and every knife I found when I heard sirens and someone yelling in a megaphone. "Everyone stay in your homes and board up your houses, do not leave until we say so!"

I laughed at that. "They can thank me later.", I said looking out the window. Everyone had scrambled and went to each others houses, I could see some of the houses had wood or furniture against windows and doors.
