Bit by bit(e)

What have I done
What have I become
Was it the hum drum or the red rum
That lead me to chase a bit of corruption
And left me up the junction
Shake, rattle and roll
Tore my soul
That wasn't the goal
Resistance was futile
I tasted the bile
Wish I could have run a mile
But instead I put on a smile
Time to pick up the rope?
But that's a slippery slope
Like the bloke
Who pretends there's hope
Here's to Salem
Fat Lot of good he did
Bit by bit
Stole my kids
And pretended that I never did my bit
But I see him, or maybe her
Like a tremor
It was never meant to last forever
Or was it,
I did my bit
Time for another hit...

I read it like a slam poem and it was quite powerful. Well done.
