While out fishing here in C. FL last week, noticed male bass were showing wear on their fins. Tho bed fishing is controversial.  FWC just finished a study, showed doing such had little impact on population of bass. I personally don't like to bed fish on larger over fished lakes, I will do it on retention ponds!
