Afraid To Be Brave Read Count : 98

Everyday is a battle,

And I only have a shield.

On this battle field there is a sword.

I don't reach for this sword,

Instead I cower behind the shield.

I am afraid to go out.

I cannot face the slaughter headed my way.

It is safer behind the shield,

So here I will stay.

I could reach out,

Ask for help,

But fear paralizes my vocal chord,

So I cannot speak.

If I move to a safer spot,

I have to consider is it really safe?

I'm afraid no where is safe.

How can it be safe?

How can I trust that the place is safe,

Just because people say it is?

I can't be brave,

I can't move,

I can't speak,

This battlefield is just to much.

Who can I trust?

Who is the enemy?

Only I can save myself,

But I can't leave the shield.

Maybe if I grab the sword,

Would it make me brave like you?

  • A shield can be a better weapon than a sword. Personally I prefer a staff or double edged spear.
