Act 1, Scene: "The Grand Illusion"

[Fade In]

On the stage, you see an office with two desks and a counter with an old fashioned coffee maker with basic white coffee cups. File cabinets and a typewriter on the secretaries desk.

One man is dressed up in a casually. This man is known as Kilroy.

The woman is dressed up in a long skirt, which is his secretary, and the younger man preferably played by a sixteen to tenty year old is the coffee boy.

They move to center stage and start singing from left to right coffee boy, Kilroy, and his secretary.

After commencing to their positions all of them begins to sing. "The Grand Illusion"

All: Welcome to the Grand illusion

Come on in and see what's happening

Pay the price, get your tickets for the show

The stage is set, the band starts playing

Suddenly your heart is pounding

Wishing secretly you were a star.)

Only C. boy: But don't be fooled by the radio

Only Secretary: The TV or the magazines

Only Kilroy: They show you photographs of how your life should be

Only Kilroy: But they're just someone else's fantasy

So if you think your life is complete confusion

Because you never win the game

Just remember that it's a Grand illusion

And deep inside we're all the same.)

All: We're all the same...

Only Kilroy: So if you think your life is complete confusion

Because your neighbors got it made

Just remember that it's a Grand illusion

And deep inside we're all the same.)

All: We're all the same...

America spells competition, join us in our blind ambition

Get yourself a brand new motor car

Someday soon we'll stop to ponder what on Earth's this spell we're under

We made the grade and still we wonder who the hell we are...)

Kilroy returns to his desk while the secretary returns to her typewriter. Meanwhile the Coffee Boy, is walking to Kilroy's desk.

Kilroy: "Ms. Evelyn, would you get me the blueprints to the remote control system so I can check it."

Coffee Boy: "Here's your coffee Mr. Kilroy just as you requested."

Kilroy: "Thank you, here's the dollar for the Coffee and an extra dollar for bringing it from across the street." (Hands him two dollars)

Coffee Boy: "Thanks Mr. Kilroy, the Cafè owner wanted me to tell you he really appreciates your buisness."

Ms. Evelyn: "(Brings him a file from her desk) Here are the files you requested Mr. Kilroy, are you ready for me to call the marketing manager?"

Mr.Kilroy: "Maybe this afternoon when......"

Toward the end of the scene we hear what sounds like an explosion and see the three of two on the ground appearing to be dead and Kilroy reaching for the phone loses consciousness.

In the background sinister music begins to play and Renegade walks out on stage with Cayden Lee/Angry Young Man. They walk over to the desk and take a folder from it.

Renegade: Finally, with this device I can finally I can rein this city into chaos! (Sinister Laughter)

Cayden: (Glances at the bodies)

Renegade: (Walks over to the Kilroy and nudges him with his hand.) Such a brilliant mind lost, what a waste he could have been useful if he survived. Oh well, pointless about worrying over spilt milk. Come Angry Young Man!

Cayden: Yes Commander!

Renegade: Gah, I hate it when you call me that in public!

Cayden: "Sorry Mr. Renegade, I'll try not to let it happen again."

(Leaves Left Stage)

Cayden: (Looks at the Coffee boy) Not much younger than I am. (Scoffs)

(You hear sirens in the background and the curtain closes in this scene.)

Act 1, Scene 2: "Blue Collar Man"

[Curtains Raise]

In the background it appears to be a clinical research facility of some type with various devices.

Kilroy who appears to be laying on a trundle bed unconscious. A male nurse is standing next to the female doctor.

Doctor: "I don't know if he'll survive the surgery. After the explosion his body suffered from the cocussive force crushing his spine."

Nurse: Do you think he'll be able to ever live a normal life?"

Doctor: "I'm afraid not. We had to replace most of his body with cybernetic technology. He's more machine than a man now."

[Kilroy sings each verse solo and the doctor and nurse join in with the chorus. ]

"Blue Collar Man"

Give me a job, give me security

Give me a chance to survive

I'm just a poor soul in the unemployment line

My God, I'm hardly alive

My mother and father, my wife and my friends

I see them laugh in my face

But I've got the power, and I've got the will

I'm not a charity case

I'll take those long nights, impossible odds

Keeping my eye to the keyhole

If it takes all that to be just what I am

Well, I'm gonna be a blue collar man

Make me an offer that I can't refuse

Make me respectable, man

This is my last time in the unemployment line

So like it or not I'll take those

Long nights, impossible odds

Keeping my back to the wall

If it takes all that to be just what I am

Well, I'm gonna be a blue collar man

Keeping my mind on a better life

Where happiness is only a heartbeat away

Paradise, can it be all I heard it was

I close my eyes and maybe I'm already there

I'll take those long nights, impossible odds

Keeping my back to the wall

All that be just what I am

Well, I'm gonna be a blue collar man

You don't understand

I'll take those long nights, impossible odds

Keeping my eye to the keyhole

If it takes all that be just who I am

Well I vow to be a blue collar, gotta be a blue collar,

Gonna be a Blue collar man.

Believe it.

After they have finished singing he wakes up and starts looking around.

Doctor: "Mr. Kilroy, it appears you managed to survive the transplant. Welcome back to the land of the living."

Kilroy: "What......what are you talking about?"

(Starts to sit up)

Male nurse: "Someone broke into your office and set off an explosive. We think it was remote detonated. A few more minutes and you would've been dead. Doctor Amalia Heron, had to implant cybernetics into your body or you wouldn't have pulled through."

Kilroy: "Why would you go that far to save someone like me?"

Doctor: "Well Kilroy, there's a lot we have to discuss, but I would like to see how you adapt to your new body."

Kilroy: "Why save me though, wait the boy and Ms. Evelyn. What happened to the both of them?"

Doctor: "They both were killed by the explosion."

Kilroy: "Who on Earth would do such a despicable thing to us?"

Doctor: "We will help you discover this man's identity. Wehave an offer for you, but for right now why don't you get used to the implants by going out for a stroll. I will find you when it is necessary."

Male Nurse: (Puts a jacket on Kilroy) Here you don't want anyone seeing your body in it's current state. This will also keep it dry from the pouring rain.

(Kilroy gets up and exits left stage slowly.)

Doctor: "Shadow Mr. Kilroy for an hour and report back on how he adapts to his new body. The defense contractors want to know everything we can about how these cybernetics affect a person's abilities."

Male Nurse: "I won't let him leave my sight." (leaves)

[Curtain lowers]

Act 1, Scene 3: "Crystal Ball"

[Curtains Raise]

In the background you see Kilroy walking down a street heading to a small garden where he stops center stage and the lights dim with a spotlight focused on Kilroy. He starts singing all alone on the street.

"Crystal Ball"

I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line

I used to think that everything was fine

Sometimes I'd like to sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams

All alone and trapped in time

All alone and trapped in time

I wonder what tomorrow has in mind for me

Or am I even in it's mind at all

Perhaps I'll get a chance to look ahead and see

Soon as I find myself a crystal ball

Soon as I find myself a crystal ball

Tell me, tell me where I'm going

I don't know where I've been

Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me

And then tell me again

My heart is breaking, my body's aching

And I don't know where to go

Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me

I've just got to know

Crystal ball

There's so many things I need to know

Crystal ball

There's so many things I've got to know

Crystal ball

["extra verse" used occasionally live]

If you should see me walking

Through your dreams at night

Would you please direct me

Where I ought to be

I've been looking for a crystal ball

To shed the light

To find a future in me...

To find a future in me...

Crystal ball

There's so many things I need to know

Crystal ball

There's so many things I've got to know

Crystal ball

(After finishing the song he picks up a pamphlet and reads it aloud.)

Kilroy: "Fortune is never wrong, if you ever need guidance come and see me at the Crystal Caravan." ~Madam Blue~

(After reading this Kilroy continues traveling stage left and exits.)

[Curtains Lower]

Act 1, Scene 4: "Lorelei"

[Curtains Raise]

You see on mid-stage a window and Kilroy is peeping in on a southern girl who is knitting by the fireplace with tears streaming down her face.

Lorelei's Dad: "Oh honey, when you're mother died I felt like my whole world was shattered. Than I remember my little girl said to me one day. Daddy, momma doesn't want you to be unhappy she died. She wants you to be happy that she lived.

Lorelei: "Thanks daddy, I still can't get over how he died. Why on earth would anyone even do something like this to him. He was such a good man, I love you Thomas Kilroy and I always will."

[Lights dim and the music to "Lorelei" starts playing.]

Only K: When I think of Lorelei my head turns all around

As gentle as a butterfly she moves without a sound

I call her on the telephone, she says be there by eight

Tonight's the night she's moving in and I can hardly wait

The way she moves, ooh-ooh...)

Only L: I gotta say...)

Only K: Lorelei let's live together...)

Only L: Brighter than the stars forever...)

Only K: Lorelei let's live together...)

Only L: Brighter than the stars forever...)

Only K: Her eyes become of Paradise, she softly speaks my name

She brightens every lonely night, no one's quite the same

She calls me on the telephone, she says be there by eight

Tonight's the night she's moving in, it's time to celebrate

The way she moves, ooh-ooh

I gotta say

Lorelei let's live together...)

Only L: Brighter than the stars forever...)

Only K: Lorelei let's live together...)

Both: Brighter than the stars forever...)

(Lorelei gasps after she sees the man.)

(Kilroy quickly ducks away behind a hedge.)

Lorelei's Dad: "What's the matter honey, Is there something wrong?"

Lorelei: "Nothing daddy, I just thought I saw a man peeping in the window at me. I thought the man looked like Thomas, but it might of just been my imagination playing tricks on me. (Stands up)

Lorelei's Dad: A peeper huh, I'd better let the neighborhood watch know than. (Hugs Lorelei)

I promise things will get better for you one day. Cross my heart Apple Dumplings.

Act 1, Scene 5: "Show me the Way"

[Curtains raise]

Kilroy starts walking back from the left strange when the female doctor meets him on the empty streets. The lights are dimming from the sun setting and she stops him.

Doctor: For years our city has been ravaged by powerful criminals. I know this is a lot to ask of you, but you might be one of our best chances to root out the deep corruption. We are part of a special group trying to heal this city from it's core.

Kilroy: I'm not a hero, I used to make toys for kids and spent the afternoons watching videos with my fiancee. I'm no hero.

Doctor: (sighs) All right, but please think on our offer. You won't be alone if you accept. You should know everyone thinks your dead so you might want to refrain from using your name for now. It might cause a commotion. (With those words she walks away leaving Kilroy alone.)

[Music starts playing.]

(Kilroy sings "Show me the Way")

Every night I say a prayer in the hope that there's a heaven...

But every day I'm more confused as the saints turn into sinners...

All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have fallen to idols of clay...

And I feel this empty place inside, so afraid that I've lost my faith...

Show me the way, show me the way...

Take me tonight to the river...

And wash my illusions away...

Please, show me the way...

And as I slowly drift to sleep, for a moment dreams are sacred...

I close my eyes and know there's peace in a world so filled with hatred...

Then I wake up each morning and turn on the news to find we've so far to go...

And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid I just won't know...

Show me the way, show me the way...

Bring me tonight to the mountain...

And take my confusion away...

And show me the way...

And if I see your light, should I believe...

Tell me how will I know...

Show me the way, show me the way...

Take me tonight to the river...

And wash my illusions away...

Show me the way, show me the way...

Give me the strength and the courage...

To believe that I'll get there someday...

And please show me the way...

Every night I say a prayer in the hopes that there's a heaven...

(At the end of the song, Kilroy finds himself in front of the Crystal Caravan.)

[Curtain Lower]

Act 1, Scene 6: "Fooling Yourself"

[Curtain raise]

[Sinister intro music]

Renegade: How dare you mock me! I made you into the criminal you are today! If it wasn't for me you'd be dead on the streets like the filthy urchin you are!

Cayden Lee: You told me nobody was going to die from that explosion. You told me it was just going to knock them out.

Renegade: (Gets into Cayden's face.) If I hadn't killed the man who invented he would have figured out how I'm going to shut down the cities main power. These lazy fools will have no water or electricity it'll be complete chaos. (Sinister laughter)

Cayden: Have you lost your mind!? Why would you do something like that?

Renegade: If you can't take the heat, you get the hell out of my oven!

(Cayden leaves slamming the door behind him. He breaks out in tears looking up.)

[Music starts playing]

(He breaks out in song)

Relax...Take it easy...

You see the world through your cynical eyes

You're a troubled young man I can tell

You've got it all in the palm of your hand

But your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest

And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it

You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it

Why must you be such an angry young man

When your future looks quite bright to me

How can there be such a sinister plan

That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man

You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it

You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it

Get up, get back on your feet

You're the one they can't beat and you know it

Come on, let's see what you've got

Just take your best shot and don't blow it

You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it

You're killing yourself if you don't believe it

Get up, get back on your feet

You're the one they can't beat and you know it

Come on, let's see what you've got

Just take your best shot and don't blow it.

(He walks away taking a glance behind him.)

[Curtains lower]

Act 2, Scene 1: Madam Blue (part 1)

[Curtains Raise]

Kilroy is in a small room, with a table in the center, and three wooden chairs with dark red cushions. There are red curtains accenting the cushions on the window.  He walks close to the table and spots chimes hanging down with a note.

Kilroy: "If you need me, give it a ring. (Kilroy hits the chime and a melodic sound plays.)"

A woman dressed in exotic attire enters from the other side with a young male apprentice.. She is wearing a blue silk gown, hoop earrings, and dark red lipstick.

Madam Blue: "Ahhhhhh......so a lost child has come to find his way home. But yet to do this he must know he he is."

Kilroy: "Excuse me are you Madam Blue?"

Madam Blue: "Some people call me that, others call me the Blue Star, but most people call me...(Falls asleep)"

Apprentice: "Madam Blue, wake up you have a client."

Madam Blue: "(Wakes up) Hrmmm... oh yes forgive me, dear boy where was I?"

Apprentice: "Your name, Madam Blue. You were about to say your name."

Madam Blue: "Oh yes...what was it again?"

Apprentice: "Felix, your name is Felix. I apologize, most people don't realize that talking to the spiritual realm is exhausting."

Madam Blue: "Sit down Thomas Kilroy and we can begin."

Kilroy: "Are you really able to see the future?"

Madam Blue: "Well I am Madam Blue after all."

[Music starts playing]

Madam Blue

Time after time I sit and I wait for your call

I know I'm a fool but what can I say

Whatever the price I'll pay for you, Madame Blue

Once long ago, a word from your lips and the world turned around

But somehow you've changed, you're so far away

I long for the past and dream of the days with you, Madame Blue

Suite Madame Blue, gaze in your looking glass

You're not a child anymore

Suite Madame Blue, the future is all but past

Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules

You conquered the world and more ..............heaven's door

America....America...America..America..

America....America...America..America..

America....America...America..America..

Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass

You're not a child anymore

Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past

So lift up your heart, make a new start

And lead us away from here

Madam Blue: "(Sits down) Am I Madam Blue, does a salmon swim upstream? Now have a seat and join hands."

(The three of them and join hands.)

Madam Blue: "This is the first time in a while I've joined hands with a handsome man. Yeeee...I'm all tingly."

(The Crystal Ball on the table glows after they close their eyes)

Madam Blue: "I see two boys playing with toy soldiers and electronics. One of them wants to bring good into the world while the other brings chaos. If he should succeed than this city will be ravaged by crime and destruction."

[The crystal ball fades]

Kilroy: "I don't understand, what does this mean?"

(Madam Blue falls asleep)

Apprentice: "Sorry Mr. Kilroy, but she's to worn out to continue. I'm sure she'll be willing to wait on payment on her services."

Kilroy: "Right, tell her thank you and I'll try to be back soon."

[Kilroy leaves and the curtain falls]

Act 2, Scene 2: Babe

[Curtains Raise]

In the background you see what looks like an alleyway with decrepit brick walls, boarded up Windows and doorways with a few old signs hanging down. The lights dim and you hear the sounds of thunder.

Lorelei comes out on the stage with a fancy parasol/umbrella. With her purse slung over her arm.  She is walking down the street when she steps in a puddle.

Lorelei: "(Shakes her boot) Oh dear, I really should watch where I'm stepping.

(Suddenly a thief shows up and runs at her)

Thief: Give me that purse. (They struggle for it and Lorelei falls over losing her grip on the purse.)

(Kilroy shows up and runs toward the thief.)

Thief: (Drops the purse and flees) Shoot, see ya' later honey!

Kilroy: (Picks up the purse and reaches his hand out to Lorelei.) Are you all right? I heard the commotion and saw the struggle.

Lorelei: "Thank you stranger, but I'm perfectly fine now. (Gets up on her own and takes the purse.) I'm grateful you came by when you did, not many people in this city have the guts to stand up to the criminals on their own turf. Will you tell me your name hero?"

Kilroy: "I should go."

Lorelei: "Wait!" (Grabs his hand)

[Kilroy starts singing]

Babe, I'm leaving, I must be on my way

The time is drawing near

My train is going, I see it in your eyes

The love, the need, your tears

But I'll be lonely without you

And I'll need your love to see me through

Please believe me, my heart is in your hands

And I'll be missing you

You know it's you Babe

Whenever I get weary and I've had enough

Feel like giving up

You know it's you Babe

Giving me the courage and the strength I need

Please believe that it's true

Babe, I love you

You know it's you Babe

Whenever I get weary and I've had enough

Feel like giving up

You know it's you Babe

Giving me the courage and the strength I need

Please believe that it's true

Babe, I love you

Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again

Somehow try to smile

I know the feeling we're trying to forget

If only for a while

Cause I'll be lonely without you

And I'll need your love to see me through

Please believe me, my heart is in your hands

Cause I'll be missing you

Babe, I love you

Babe, I love you

Oh, Babe

(Kilroy leaves the way he came while Lorelei leaves the other direction.)

(Renegade his head out from a window)

Renegade: "Oh goody, there's a new hero in town and I just found his Achilles heel. Why is it that the hero always gets the girl?" (Goes back down.)

[Curtains lower]

Act 2, Scene 3: Renegade

[Curtains Raise]

We are back in Renegade's laboratory where he is standing center stage with Lorelei tied to a chair. There are two goons who are standing on each side of him.

Renegade: Mwahahaha......so tell me who that hero is little lady and I'll let you go free.

Lorelei: You just wait until I get my my hands free you freak!

Renegade: (Shakes his head.) Now...now that's no way for a southern lady such as yourself to act.

Lorelei: (Spits at him) You let me out of this chair honey, and I'll show you how much of a southern lady I can be. What kind of creep are you anyway? What does that letter R on your underwear stand for? Wait let me guess.(Pauses for three seconds) It's Mr. Ridiculous right, did you walk out of a comic book?

Renegade: (Slams his fist down) Mr. Ridiculous...you insolent...I'll tell you who I am!

[Music starts playing]

[Intro]
Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Lawman has put an end to my running, and I'm so far from my home
Oh Mama, I can hear you a-cryin', you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows, and I don't have very long
(Yeah!)

[Chorus]
The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Nevermore to go astray
This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man

[Verse 1]
Oh Mama, I've been years on the lam and had a high price on my head
Lawman said, "Get him dead or alive." I was for sure he'll see me dead
Dear Mama, I can hear you a-cryin', you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows, and I don't have very long

[Chorus]
The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Nevermore to go astray
The judge will have revenge today
On the wanted man

[Bridge]

Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law

Hangman is comin' down from the gallows, and I don't have very long

[Chorus]

The jig is up, the news is out

They finally found me

The renegade who had it made

Retrieved for a bounty

Nevermore to go astray

This'll be the end today

Of the wanted man

The wanted man

And I don't wanna go, no, no

Mama, don't let 'em take me!

Hey, hey

No, no, no, I can't go

[After song is over]

Renegade: They call me Mr. Renegade, and that's a name you'll never forget. I think I've wasted enough time with you. If you'll excuse us we have preparations to make before we take down the main power grid. (Starts to leave.) Mr. Hero will be wasting his time looking for you. (Sinister laughter as he leaves.)

Lorelei: Did he just say he was going to shut down the town's main power grid! People would go crazy in the streets, I've got to do something and I have to do it fast. (Struggles) Darn, I can't break free. Looks like I'll have to hope that guy comes looking for me.

[Curtains Fall]

Act 2, Scene 4: Reflection

This scene requires original work and will be kept separate for the time being.)

Act 2, Scene 5: The Best of Times

[Curtains Raise]

At this point, Kilroy has made his way inside Renegade's factory. Lorelei is still tied up to the same chair.

Kilroy: Are you all right? A friend of  mine sent me a message letting me know you had been taken captive and were in danger.  What is this place exactly?

Lorelei: A madman's hideout, it seems like he was ranting on about some kind of plan. I should probably go call the authorities about this. He said something about shutting down the power systems by overloading the main power systems. Which reminds me, why did you Come to rescue me?

[Music starts playing]

Tonight's the night we'll make history

Honey, you and I

And I'll take any risk to tie back the hands of time

And stay with you here tonight

I know you feel these are the worst of times

I do believe it's true

When people lock their doors and hide inside

Rumor has it, it's the end of paradise

But I know, if the world just passed us by

Baby I know, I wouldn't have to cry, no no

The best of times are when I'm alone with you

Some rain some shine, we'll make this a world for two

Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime

We'll take the best, forget the rest

And someday we'll find

These are the best of times

These are the best of times

The headlines read, "These are the worst of times"

I do believe it's true

I feel so helpless like a boat against the tide

I wish the summer winds could bring back paradise

But I know, if the world turned upside down

Baby, I know you'd always be around, my my

The best of times are when I'm alone with you

Some rain some shine, we'll make this a world for two

The best of times are when I'm alone with you

Some rain some shine, we'll make this a world for two

Lorelei: That song, Kilroy my fiance he proposed to me on my birthday four years after we started seeing eachother. It can't be, only one person would sing that song. Pulls away Kilroy's hood. (Freezes up)

Kilroy: You shouldn't have to endure this pain, but please don't come after me. I'm more machine than a man now.

Lorelei: The explosion, they said it had killed you. I went to your funeral and cried day and night for you. (Slaps him) Why didn't you come to tell me you were still alive?

Kilroy:  Because I'm not the same man you used to know. Please, don't come looking for me because you won't find me.

[Runs off]

Lorelei: But, I still love you!?

[Curtains Lower]

Kilroy is inside the Crystal Caravan where she and her apprentice are seated near the crystal ball.

Madam Blue: It is time for the boy to become the man he was mean't to become. Should he not, our city shall be plunged into the darkness. But,  becoming the man is not enough to defeat the enemy that gave way to creating you.

Kilroy: Madam Blue,  what is it I need to stop this madman?

Madam Blue: I see a youth who is covered in sorrow and regret. He shall lead you to where you need to go. Without him you are likely to fail. Once you have entered your true self,  you will find him in the empty bar where you find a cold stone bird.

Kilroy: Thanks,  I appreciate all of your help Madam Blue.

Madam Blue: One last detail,  be wary that if you make a mistake someone close may be lost. Now hurry up and shoo,  because it's almost time for my favorite soap opera "General Hospital."

(She leaves)

Apprentice: "There will be no need for you to return or any payment for her services. A woman came by and covered the charges for your services,  Mr. Kilroy."

Kilroy: Thanks for all of your help,  I guess bad things really can happen for a reason sometimes.

Apprentice: Than there are times we have to make things happen.

[Kilroy leaves and curtain lowers]

[Verse 1]

You're wondering who I am (Secret, secret, I've got a secret)

Machine or mannequin (Secret, secret, I've got a secret)

With parts made in Japan (Secret, secret, I've got a secret)

I am the modren man

[Verse 2]

I've got a secret I've been hiding under my skin

My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain IBM

So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised

I'm just a man who needed someone and somewhere to hide

To keep me alive, just keep me alive

Somewhere to hide to keep me alive

[Verse 3]

I'm not a robot without emotions, I'm not what you see

I've come to help you with your problems, so we can be free

I'm not a hero, I'm not a savior, forget whatyou know
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control

Beyond my control, we all need control

I need control, we all need control

Act 3,  Scene 1: Friends  in Strange Places

"This is intended as an original piece and will be done separately after the rest is completed."

Act 3, Scene 2: Come Sail Away

[Raises Curtain]

You see Cayden standing next to Kilroy looking out across a river setting in a boat getting ready to shove off.

Cayden: "The power plant is across this river on a small island."

Kilroy: "Caden are you sure that you want to be a part of this? You realize if we Renegade refuses to come along willingly we may have to kill him."

Cayden: "I doubt he'll come along willingly and I have no regrets coming along to stop him. I'm sorry about everything that's happened up to this point. Had he not helped me off the streets, I wouldn't have helped him for such a long time."

Kilroy: "I don't really blame you for what happened. Actually, maybe I should be thanking you. All my life I've never been certain about what I was meant to do. I've been afraid of rising my full potential. None of us knew what would happen, or what we would have to do in the end." (They start rowing.)

[The boat moves slowly while Kilroy and Cayden sing]

[Verse 1]

I'm sailing away
Set an open course for the Virgin Sea
'Cause I've got to be free
Free to face the life that's ahead of me

On board I'm the captain, so climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try, oh Lord I'll try to carry on

[Verse 2]
I look to the sea
Reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends, and the dreams we had

We lived happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on the pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can, to carry on

[Pre-Chorus]
A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me a song of hope, and this is what they said

[Chorus]
They said: Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me lads
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me baby
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

[Instrumental Break]

[Pre-Chorus]

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise

We climbed aboard their starship, we headed for the skies

[Chorus]

Singing come sail away, come sail away, come sail with me lads

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

Note: During this scene I prefer the water move along with the boat. this particular set has an interactive background giving the audience the feeling it's really moving.

[Stop at the island and get out of the boat.]

Cayden: "Kilroy we're here. We need reach the power plant to stop Renegade, before he overloads the reactor."

Kilroy: "My guess would be that he intends to use my device to overload the main circuits. I can't believe a circuit from a toy would cause all of this trouble. To think, something I created has the capability of hurting so many people."

Cayden: (Puts his hand on Kilroy's shoulder) Don't worry we'll stop him before he destroys the reactor.

Kilroy: "I hope you're right about that."

[Curtains Lower]

Act 3, Scene 3: Lady

[Curtains Raise]

You see a large doorway in center stage with a factory like background.

Cayden: "I'll go inside to scout ahead."

Kilroy: "All right, but don't try taking Renegade on your own."

(Cayden nods at Kilroy and head's inside.)

Suddenly as Kilroy goes to open the door and women's voice calls out to him from the left.

Lorelei: "Kilroy wait!" (Comes running from the left side.)

Kilroy: "Lorelei, what are you doing here? It's dangerous, you shouldn't be here."

Lorelei: "I had to see you again, it seems like the last time we talked I couldn't tell you."

Kilroy: "Tell me what exactly?"

Lorelei: I don't care you're half machine. You're the man that I always loved. No matter what it takes, I tried to prove it to you again and again. It's hard to say those three words, but they don't even describe the burning desire inside. Kilroy I've always loved you deep down I still won't let you drown. You're still the man I love, please say you still want to be mine."

[Kilroy Sings]

Lady, when you're with me I'm smiling

Give me all your love

Your hands build me up when I'm sinking

Just touch me and my troubles all fade

Lady, from the moment I saw you

Standing all alone

You gave all the love that I needed

So shy, like a child who has grown

Lady of the morning

Love shines in your eyes

Sparkling, clear and lovely

You're my lady

Lady, turns me on when I'm lonely

Show me all your charm

Evenings when you lay down beside me

Just take me gently into your arms

You're my lady of the morning

Love shines in your eyes

Sparkling, clear and lovely

You're my lady

Lady of the morning

Love shines in your eyes

Sparkling, clear and lovely

You're my lady

Kilroy: "Lorelei, I promise once I've dealt with him I'll come back to you."

Lorelei: "All right Kilroy, I believe you and I'll wait here for you."

(Kilroy hugs her and heads into the factory.)
