I shuffled from one foot to the other , while I stood facing  my class teacher.I just loathed Math, I wonder who made it so hard and complicated? Couldn't  they just stick to simple, basic, practical ,day to day Math? Addition,Subtraction,Multiplication and Division?  I battled my fear as I tried to answer her as to why, I had not done my difficult HW assignment. Her eyes seemed to exray my head, Oh God it was not there, How could it be -wasn't math meant for the Brainy? Come on think fast, I urged myself , but excuses were far, far away as this teacher  was "No Nonsense One" ,she knew all the excuses before they were aired,killed them before they were even born and cut us short with just One Glance ! I could  feel my ears burning with shame as the 'Smarties' began to exchange looks and soon the smirking and nudging started.Oh ,God they were being Royally entertained by this 'backbencher' . I looked at my buddy for moral support,she showed me a 'Thumbs Up' sign.I felt comforted, but just for a split second, soon the teacher snorted,"Yes,I am waiting,"What is your excuse this time?When will you grow up? Will I ever get any assignment from you this year?" My ears began to turn red,I began to squirm and I wished the ground would open up and swallow me.Then looking at the sniggering , 'Smarties an idea dawned on me, and I blurted out,"Why miss ,I am not Smart enough do my assignment" You could hear a pin drop silence or according to the English Language teacher,"A Pregnant Pause" in the class-room.The teacher was  shocked and first stared at me unblinking,  speechless,then forgot about the assignment and began to explain the concept to me all over again! Till date I remember, the look on the "Smarties", face as I got away scotfree ! My buddy shook with mirth and almost betrayed herself by shouting 'Superb ", which she cleverly concealed as a sneeze . I had out witted the so called "Math Geniuses",who were relishing, mentally , seeing me begging to be forgiven ,and being detained after class again! Hey,"Smarties",I screamed in my mind, No ,Yes No  Dentention,Yipee no Dentention! Look ! They looked on in disbelief.I was surprised that they did not get a heart attack! As for me,I had learnt another excuse not to do my HW assignment! Oh,Yes,I will grow up one day and  invent a lot of more excuses.
