Part 3
"What is this? Why is there a knife under the bed!" Jake yelled out loud. He picked it up and carefully placed it back on the counter.
"I-I knew she was clingy, but this is going to far! I gotta get out of here."
...................
"I really don't want you to go." Martha said, hugging Jake tightly as they stood outside the train.
"I know, but it's only for a week. I'll be back soon. I promise."
"Okay. I'll be sure to call you every night."
"Right." Jake said, but he knew as soon as he left he was going to change his number.
......................
As the train began to leave the station, Jame stared at the broken screen on his phone. He turned it on and called Beth.
"What? Why are you calling me?" She asked, annoyed and angry.
"Beth!"
"I'm hanging up. I told you not to contact me."
"Wait! Let me explain. That girl you met in my dreams, Martha, she's actually... an ex-girlfriend of mine. She's super clingy and ended up stalking me. She must have stolen the half of my dream-sharing stone which is why you saw each other."
"Huh... really? Could she really have stolen it?" Jake smiled, knowing that she was buying his lie.
"Yes! Let's meet up. I promise I'll explain everything when I see you." He smiled as she agreed and hanged up. Little did he know Martha was sitting right behind him, listening the entire time.
....................
Jake was standing at the end of a bridge, waiting for Beth to meet with him. He glanced at the time on his phone. She was late.
"Man, I hope she comes." He said to himself, scratching the back of his head. Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him and turned to see Beth, staring at the ground.
"Hah, I was wondering when you were gonna show up! What took so long?" He asked her. She looked up, a pained expression on her face.
Before anyone could say anything, she fell forward, a knife in her back and a very cold looking Martha behind her. Jake backed up.
"M-Martha! Why did you do that?!" He yelled at her. She looked at him coldly and began to chase him. He fell backwards.
"You liar!" She yelled at him. She stabbed toward him and he closed his eyes, but opened them a second later when he realised she hadn't stabbed him, but Beth's dead body.
"Now I know you'll never come back to me, but we can't break up!" She said, unzipping her bag to pull out her half dream-sharing stone. She swallowed it with some great difficulty.
"M-Martha!" Jake yelled, but before he could stop her, she jumped off the bridge and plunged into the icy water below.
......................
After spending the rest of the day at the police station, Jake was finally allowed to return home. He closed his eyes and drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
Minutes later he sprang up from his bed, yelling frantically. He turned, pulling off his pillows, blanket, and the sheet.
"I-I dreamed about her, but there's nothing here! How is that possible!" He yelled, tossing his pillow to the side. He froze, recalling yesterday's events.
"The...the juice. She grinded up the stone and put it in the juice!" He said. He fell to the floor, clutching his head, thinking, but the deed was already done. It was a part of him.
Now, everyday he would dream about Martha as he fell asleep. And as each day passed, she would look more rotten and decayed as the day before.
