                          Part 2

She opened her eyes, surrounded by dark space. In the distance, she could see another woman, staring around in confusion.

"Hey! Who are you and why are you sharing dreams with my boyfriend!" Martha yelled at her.

"Huh? What's happening, and where's Jake?"

"What? You think he cares about you? He probably got bored on his trip and decided to mess around with you."

"And what about you? I can see your wrinkles. He's probably disgusted with dating an old witch like you."

"Take that back!" And Martha began to chase her around.

                     .......................

"I-I had no idea he was cheating on me." Martha said, sitting on the floor, still in the dream world.

"Pfft. I can see why he did. You're way too clingy." The other girl, Beth, said to her.

"Hey! It's not because of me! You probably seduced him or blackmailed him into dating you."

"Whatever. I'm out of here." And she left, leaving Martha all alone with her thoughts.

                     ......................

When Jake woke up the next morning, he had recieved a very confusing text from Beth. It had said:

"You thought you could keep it secret didn't you? Thankfully, I now know how much of a jerk you are! It's over. Don't ever contact me again."

He had stared at it in confusion for a moment before beginning to type:

"Wait! It's just a misunderstanding." Before he could hit send, someone had forcefully grabbed his phone out of his hand. He looked up to see an angry Martha staring at him with cold eyes.

"So, when were you going to tell me you were cheating? Did you have fun dating her behind my back?"

"M-Martha! It's not what you think!"

"How long have you two been together?"

"Just...just for two weeks."

"Liar!" She threw down his phone and it cracked on the floor. "Based on your text messages this has been going on for three months!"

"Well you're the one to talk! I specifically remember that player."

"I told you it's not what you think. I just felt bad for denying him so I just spent some time with him."

"You didn't tell me until after I figured out! Did you even plan on telling me at all?"

"Enough. I'm done. Let's just stop arguing."

Jake sighed and leaned down to pick up his phone.

"You're right." He said, avoiding her gaze. She smiled at him, triumphantly. "We should end this. I'm sorry. I'll leave you."

She stared at him in disbelief as he began to walk away. She reached forward to grab his arm, tears filling her eyes.

"Please honey, don't go. I don't want to end like this." She cried, clinging onto him. He looked back at her and sighed, enveloping her into a tight hug.

                        .................

"Here, I got you some juice." Martha said, handing Jake a cup.

"Ah, thanks." He said. He drank it.

"Oh, I have to go honey. They called me to take a night shift today." Martha said, glancing at her watch. They said their goodbyes and she left, smiling at him one last time. He sighed in disappointment and looked at his phone where a picture of Beth was.

"I can't lose her. She was totally my type." He thought. His knee banged onto the bedside and he stepped back, wincing in pain. He looked down and saw something under the bed.

He reached down to pull out a knife.
