The school year had ended and began just like any other, with one exception. A girl had appeared in our class, wearing the brightest clothes in school, decorated with stars.

She talked a lot, but never said her name, and no one bothered to ask, so we called her Stargirl. Everyday, she would wear the same colored clothes. She volunteered to help with everything and anything.

But, she ate lunch alone and played games by herself outside. One day, a storm came and we were all rushed inside, but when I looked back all I could see was Stargirl dancing in the rain.

Everyday after school, she was dragged to the back by a gang of girls. I would see them some days, kicking her, pulling her hair, ripping her books, but I didn't want to help. No one did, because she was just Stargirl to everyone, and Stargirl wasn't important.

Sbe didn't do well in class and had to ask the teacher multiple times to repeat things. But even though she was bullied everyday, and that she failed every test, she still came to school with a bright smile and that star shirt.

Everyone thought she was poor. That her mother and father were divorced and that she lived on the streets. Since everyone else believed it, I did too.

One day, Stargirl didn't come to school, and the next, and the next, and the next. She was gone for two months, but no one asked her why. She was just the little Stargirl.

One day, she stopped coming altogether, and it took us until the end of the school year to figure out she was never coming back.

Stargirl suffered from short term memory lost, which was why she never did good in school. Which was why she always wore the same outfit, and why she never knew the reason for being bullied everyday.

Stargirl and her mother had gotten in a car accident, and both didn't make it. Her father had come to our school to thank us, for being her friends and classmates, but the room was silent after he had finished.

I finally figured out Stargirl's name.

It was Amelia.
