                           Chapter 1
A pair of light brown eyes fluttered opened slightly at the newly emerging sunlight shining through a large window. The pair of eyes closed and reopened as a women got up from her bed. Her face was slowly becoming riddled with wrinkles, but yet she still had a youthful glow in her cheeks and a smile that could brighten the darkest of rooms. The woman groaned and exhaled deeply as she stretched out her arms. She looked at the clock resting on a nightstand beside her queen sized bed. Her hand slowly patted and rubbed at the empty space on the opposite side of her. She sighed in disappointment, even though she knew that there wasn't anybody there. There never was and there never will be. Her eyes flooded with tears, she quickly blinked them away when she heard tentive, almost silent footsteps coming towards her room. Her daughter, Sharon, stood in the doorway. "Thinking about her again?" She signed in ASL. The woman, now named Mary, sighed then signed "yes, I have." Sharon's face soften into an expression of sorrow and understanding. 

She clenched her fists and soon her expression turned into thought.  She looked at her mother and took a breath before signing, "I know that this has been hard on us both." Her movements were slow and cautious. "But I think we should move on with our lives." Mary looked like she has just been slapped. "How the hell can you say that!? I can't just forget about her. She was my everything, my wife. Now, now she's gone." Mary's shoulders shook with uncontrollable sobs. Her face in her hands. "I'm sorry." Sharon's voice was small and quiet, it had a muffled sound to it, almost like her mouth was full of cotton, so it sounded like, "I'b zorry."
Mary looked up at her, Sharon's face suddenly took on a pink color. She said, covering her mouth. "I blow by voice bis 'trange, but by breacher blanted me to eak bore."(I know my voice is strange, but my teacher wanted me to speak more.)
