A void created in a family 
Words and actions 
Tore it apart 
Brothers and sisters silent 
Divided 
One a Christian and the others not 
Over expecting and under appreciative parents 
Will the family be sewed back together 
Or be rowing adrift aimlessly forever 
Once a teen leaving home 
To find a family of his own 
To live past his parents expectations 
And create the path provided for him
The others live a life without God 
And one follows a path
That lands him in jail
The one goes on two get straight As in high school
Bullied because of his higher intelligence 
Living on his own at only 17 or 18 
He had his own independence 
With nobody at the reins but him 
The jailed brother 
A high intelligence as well
Has a knack with computers 
But no guidance to keep him out of jail 
The sister mouthy and loud 
But in her brothers lives 
Aware of her brothers separate lives 
Years later and the one has created a life of his own 
A family 
A future 
He has a loving wife of many years 
And two kids he can now call his own 
While the other jumped from in jail and out
His parents took a dislike to his wife 
As she didn’t take anybody’s crap
She used to be a single mother 
Taking care of two toddlers 
A jealous family is no problem for her 
Years kept passing and lives kept changing 
The family man had a kid by his blood 
A little boy 
His dude man 
His cousin Cody was living with them 
While he figured out his life 
The kids left semi in the dark 
Of the life their parents have had
The oldest sitting back 
Watching her siblings grow up 
And her family grow larger 
The other still doing bad and in and out of jail
His other brother surviving many things in life 
10 year war veteran as a military cop
Then going to work as a corrections officer at a county prison for 
20 years 
Then another hardship between the family
Dividing them even more
Cody creating a rift
By endangering the 3 young kids
By bringing unpleasant things into the home 
Kicked out by the family man
In hopes of protecting his family 
His kids never meeting his brother 
As he wanted to keep them away from bad things
Into his household
Years later and the family man
Has 4 fantastico kids 
One of 15 years 
One of 13 years 
One of 8 years 
And One of 5 years 
3 girls and one boy 
Still with his loving wife 
A duo together 
Two a whole
The father doesn’t shelter his kids
He wants them to be ready 
For what life throws at them 
To be ready for the plan God has for them
The 15 year old never kept in the dark 
He makes sure she’s aware of every situation 
Through the years they’ve been close 
Sharing jokes and goofing around 
Making gifts and making traditions
There are times the girl has regretted her decisions and wishes
She hadn’t made them
Like maybe having attitude or being rude toward either parent 
Or when her fathers Mom had passed
And her being oldest and capable of understanding 
Had been given the choice to go to the funeral
But she declined and said she didn’t want to go
So that day she stayed with her aunt 
But she did want to go
But she knew the crowds of people 
Around her father when he was trying to mourn 
Wouldn’t help him
Just being there when he gets home and giving him a smile and hug 
Would suffice 
He doesn’t like to be smothered 
Especially when he’s hurting 
His other brothers and sister living seperate lives 
The jailed one getting in an accident and getting pins in his back 
He other having a son of his own 
His sister not present in his life 
As she’s a bad influence on his kids 
Then one day 
The family man and the 15 year old daughter 
Are playing dying light 
A favorite game they play together 
When the world suddenly stops 
As my Dad gets a call
His nephew has passed 
She can tell that he’s hurt that this happened
He ends the call and calls other people 
Then ends the game saying he’s done for today
She’s unaware of what has happened 
But is aware something big has happened
And it has upset her father 
Days pass and her father is still sad
Her mother is aware his whole family is going to be there 
And doesn’t know if he should bring his kids
He does anyway 
And he gets his brother out of jail temporarily for the funeral
A family brought together 
By a tragedy 
That digs deep in their hearts 
His parents 
His sister 
His brothers 
And Cody 
All in the same room
His brother the father of his nephew
Is broken 
Mostly In shock 
He tries to console him 
Cody surprised by how much the kids have grown since he’s last 
Seen them
His parents finally talking to his family 
After their stubbornness and accusations 
Over a miscommunication 
A broken family all in one place 
With breaking hearts 
All mourning the loss of a 
Nephew 
Cousin
Brother 
Or son 
One tragedy 
That should have never happened
