Weeks ago all I could was stare at the white wall housing onlyMy clockThe time reading 4:52amI had been awake for hoursStaring at the clockI had put the kids in bed at 8:00pmWhich was 3 hours after you had leftThey wanted to say goodnightSo I gave you a callBut it said the number was terminatedI didn’t know what to tell the kidsExcept that you’d be home in the morningI was sitting there snuggled up with a blanketAnd a cup of coffeeWaiting for you to walk through that doorTo be alrightTo be okTo come in and tell me this long story and taking half an hour to getTo the pointTo give the kids a hug goodnightBut that time had never cameSoon the clock had read 7:00amIt was time to start the dayTake Isabel and Caden to schoolGet Mira to daycareGo to the storeGet my workout inGo home and get ready for workGet to work for 8 hoursGo pick up MiraGet home to Isabel and CadenFeed the kidsHelp with homeworkLet them watch an hour of tvPut them to bedClean the kitchenGo to bedRepeat and repeat for days on endAfter 4 days I had gotten the callYour friend Charlie had seen you at a partyHaving the time of your lifeMultiple times you were spottedEnjoying your lifeNot a single callNothingYou had told me you were leaving for 2 hours that nightNow weeks later and you still haven’t returnedI don’t know what to tell our kidsI don’t know what to tell Mira when she gets old enough to askWhere her father isI am alone in this adventureWith these three kidsBecause you decided to vanishTo abandon me and our kidsAnd all I can say isI hope it was worth it abandoning us 4Because I ain’t gonna accept you if you come crawling back to us
