Being the Gilds Queens daughter made my life tough. My people treated me like a princess, all dinners, suitors, and roses. I hated it. Technically I was a princess, but I took to weapons more than dresses. The people of Druman would kill me as soon as they knew who I was, my life was complicated.

I watched the trio, they walked through the forest, guiding their horses. They headed north, chatting like no one's business. Well, there was no one on the north road, there was a pretty bad battle up there. They must have been sent as an elite team. The girl drank too much and complained they should find another person to even out the number. The older man said it was fine, but the younger one sided with her. Saying the gods said the number 3 was unlucky. I walked, looking from the treeline just out of sight. I kept my breath low. My dark cape made me look like a shadow.

The girl was about my age and looked just a bit taller. She had grey, cloudy looking eyes, and red hair. Just like mine. The younger man was maybe a year older and had icy blue eyes that contradicted his musty copper hair. The older man was 30ish and had blond short hair and regular brown eyes.

I ducked under a branch losing my sighting for just a second. But when I looked back up, they had their weapons drawn in my direction.

"Show your self." The girl said, handling two short swords, the same weapons I had. The younger man had a long sword, and the older had a bow.

I stepped out, letting my hood fall, revealing my long red hair. My weapons were safely behind my back. I smiled, but it was met with angry glares. The girl looked at me as if she recognized me.

"I know you!" She narrowed her eyes.

"Shit," I mumbled.

"What are you doing here! Why are you saying?" The men looked at her for answers, she kept her mouth shut.

"I'm escaping. And if you know who I am, you should know why." It wasn't a secret my mother was evil, even to her only child. "Plus you said you wanted another person."

"You have to prove your self. And even then, I still might kill you." She twirled her weapons like they were toys. I pulled out my swords, reading myself. "Jay, Derick, weapons down. This one's mine." She popped her jaw and leaped into action.

I used a simple defense and counter attack. We blocked and attacked, matching each other's attacks. We went on for minutes and finally seized.

We shook hands, and all the sudden I felt I could trust her. She smiled and put her swords down, I did the same. "Welcome to the team."

"Thanks."

"Okay, so we can trust her. Who is she? We need introductions." The younger man said putting his guard down.

"Your right. The younger one is Jay. And that is Derick. I'm Helania."

"Could you say who I am, I hate telling people my name. They flip out and tense up."

"Sure. This, men, is Princess Ahmeria, daughter of Queen Callinya." Derick clenched his jaw, but Jay held out his hand.

"Now I get why you wanted to escape. Your mothers crazy." Jay winked at me. Derick gave me a nod. Then Jay said, "If she trusts you, so do I." He pointed to Helania.

"Thanks. And, Helania, how do you know me?"

"I learned all I could about your family."

"That's creepy."

"I try to keep an eye on both royal families. I was able to see you, not King Minuses sons, nor learn their names. But I paid more attention to you."

"Why?"

"Your mother personally slaughtered my Father and 3 brothers." Her face grew sad. I don't ask anymore. We walked in silence. At least they had their 4th person. Even if one didn't trust me. Helania started drinking again, I walked a step behind her, thinking of all the wrong my mother had done. How many others did she make sad? Would someone think I was like her and take it out on me?
