I once looked at you
With such admiration and desire 
But the words you spoke 
Sent me into a downward spiral 
Of an emotional hell. 
My heart was split open 
I could no longer see 
The damage your words caused 
Caused my soul to bleed. 
I now tremble when you speak 
For fear of what you'll say 
You apologize over and over 
Then ask me to stay 
With you. 
Is this what it's meant to be? 
Walking on egg shells in fear 
If I make a mistake, 
It's your tone of anger I'll hear. 
I've stayed far too long 
As a prisoner of your hate 
I refuse to stay here 
In this painful emotional state.
