This is an excerpt from an old story i made up a long time ago. If you enjoyed it, please let me know.

Chapter 1 The sun had just begun to shine bright. The light peaked through the curtains on the window and rested on Jack Cross' closed eyes. He opened them, then rubbed the sleep out of them. He turned over and remembered he was in bed nest to his mother, who had her arms around the boy's frame. "Isn't this a beautiful morning Momma?" Jack asked. His mother slowly opened one eye, her glance going from Jack to the window where that single strand of light was coming from, back to Jack again. "Ehhh maybe if it wasn't for this headache I have." She said in a deep hoarse voice. Jack only smiled in her face. He scooted closer and kissed her cheek then Jack hopped up and opened the curtains. The light filled the entire house, his Mother's hangover was so bad that the sensation of her eyes burning after the light coming so fast is nothing compared to a headache that felt like she was having her head drilled in. Finally she hoisted herself up. "Would you like to spend breakfast with me?" asked Jack. "Hmm do I have any other choice?" the mother asked in a monotone voice. Jack giggled and headed towards the kitchen. He got a bowl and Frosted Flakes, for himself and a bowl with plain sugar free Cheerios. Jack's mother asked him to pour so Ginger-Ale in her cereal which he did, no questions asked. After setting up his cereal he handed the mom her's, he sat with her and ate his breakfast. They both sat there on their air mattress bed backs facing the wall, Jack's Mom's legs almost reach the edge, she sat criss crossed, looking out at the street beside their little home. Jack was wearing his batman pj's while his mother only wore her tank top, one strap draping over her shoulder. Her hair short, mixed between a bed head and a terrible haircut session. And her body, flabby though a semi muscular torso, just beginning to star muffin top. She isn't perfect compared to her son, raven black hair, nicely trimmed at the bangs. Two separate buck teeth. Pale skin. Emerald eyes. Thin weighing 114lbs. To Jack, his mom's pretty. "I don't really find girls with makeup that pretty." he once said. "The amount of makeup makes them look like clowns without red noses. Thier very thin bodies seem like they're under those bad strict diets, and why do they wear short skirts? Eww!" Jack is 7 years old so he tok young to understand these type of things. "While my momma is a little fat, she's honest about it and doesn't wear tight shirts." Their home is a one room house, their living room is their bedroom with a door way to the front door and washing machine, and their kitchen is behind them with a door way to the toilet. Jack doesn't mind. "It seems more cozy." Jack's over optimism sometimes astounds people even his mom. After Jack finished his cereal, he took his bowl to the sink than sat back down, this time he sat on his mother's criss crossed legs. She didn't mind, she just wraped her around him and nonchalantly continued eating. "What do you want to do today?" Jack asked. "Sleep, relax. Wait till my head stops hurting." "Okay!" Jack was very cozy sitting this close to his mom. His mom never showed that much physical affection. Besides a ruffle of his hair or a occasional kiss on the cheek, mostly its at bedtime when she wrapps her arms around him; Jack doesn't mind, as long it's clear she loves him then he is happy. After Mom was finished she put her bowl on the bedside table. Then, she just glanced at Jack who focused, looking out at the world outside, then suddenly, to Jack's suprise, him mom fell to the bed, with her arms pressing Jack against her stomach and taking him with her. He giggled then climbed over till his eyes met her. "I love you Momma." "Love you too Sprout".

Chapter 5 As Mary (Jack's mom) laid on her air mattress by herself, she couldn't but feel lonely. She couldn't close her eyes, she didn't feel sleepy at all. She got up and headed over to the other side of the house where Jack was sleeping. Jack wanted to ao musch for his mom to try out sleeping by himself. "You need to be independent, go to sleep, it'll fine in the morning" he said to himself. Fighting back tears. Enough was enough Mary shouldn't have taken advice from her son's god mother. "Hey." She called out. Jack sat up. "Hey." "Come back and sleep with me." "Really?!! I thought--" "Look, whatever i do is to for your benefit, because i love you. But let's face it, neither of us can sleep period unless we're side by side, so c'mon." Tears rolled down Jack's eyes, he ran and hugged his mother's waist. She placed her arms around him and squeezed, she lifted him up and they headed to bed. Jack slept inside a fort that night once again. A fort made by his mother's big protective arms and endless amount of love for this child. This little sprite who's become her only guide through this crazy mad world.

Chapter 2 Mary was finally next in line. "Hello, you must be, Mr. Cross?" "I'm Mrs. Cross." The clerk was shocked. Mary was appearance was due childhood. Her voice was nearly destroyed due to an error in judgment while getting her tonsils out so she was left with a hoarse and barotone voice. She always had weight problems though it slightly improve after giving birth to Jack, and facial hair or peach fuzz, as she calls it, runs in her family.

Chapter 3 Mary laid on the air bed, right arm over Jack's sleeping frame and one his head. She lean down her neck and kissed his cheek. "Love you Sprout." She whispered.

Chapter 6 Jack was ready to trick or treating, he just had to wait for his mom. They both are going as wolves. "Why" Jack said. Mary continued, "Because no one would dare mess with a momma wolf's cub." She lifted up up the air and held him tightly.
