The clouds were getting darker. It was gonna rain soon.

Susan stared up into the endless realms of the sky. The first drop of the rain fell in synch with her tear. Though she could barely feel anything anymore, it still hurt. She still cried. She still felt the pain. No happiness, no joy, just the numbing pain. So many years have passed, she thought to herself, yet it almost feels like yesterday. The day her life flipped over and would never be the same again...

"How could he leave me alone like this?" Another tear accompanied her first. "Ruthless, disgraceful" a few more tears fell. And before she knew it, she was crying profusely. So many promises he had made to his lovely susan. The promise of so many tomorrows, of a happily ever after.

"I wont ever forgive you for doing this to me" sighed susan. Oh, how breathtaking his touch was, she never envisaged how he'd leave her yearning forever.

It was a beautiful february night. Mrs. Sanders and all those other guests had just waved goodbye to the couple's car. The wedding was over, everybody could go home now. Mr. Sanders looked relieved, with a hint of pride on his face. His daughter was in good hands now, for she had married a noble man whom sanders personally adored.

Mrs sanders, however, seemed a little uncomfortable. Even tho she was busy with bidding farewell to her guests, she was still fiddling with her fingers and looked pretty anxious. Most managed to overlook this behaviour of hers as they were all in a rush to go back home. Ofcourse they would be, the function was over and it was midnight already. Children were crying because they were tired and were begging their parents to leave. Parents, were also looking for a quick goodbye and congratulations to mr. and mrs sanders for a successful marriage, then a hasty getaway. And the host couple was already on it.

Mr. Sanders noticed his wife's uneasy behaviour. He wanted to ask her whats wrong, but now was not the right time. He was busy with the guests and so was she. He shrugged it off and decided to ask her when they'll be alone afterwards.

"Did you have a good time today, my love?" Sanders asked his wife as he unbuttoned his coat whilst he stood infront of the dressing table in their room. No answer. He turned around to find his wife sitting on the bed staring blankly at the cieling. He walked upto the bed and sat down beside her, breaking her chain of thoughts. He held her hand.

"You have been quite off after our daughter departed"

"Oh ummm... you noticed"

"Well then what is it?"

"Honey, i dont know..."

She shifted in her place and found it hard to continue to talk. Mr. Sanders held her chin and gestured her to carry on. And so she did.

"I have this strange feeling, that... even though there is no sound basis for this, still, i... i feel like something bad is gonna happen" she was stuttering.

"What? Nonsense!" Sanders went. "Look sweetie, i know today was a difficult day, and you are nervous only because our only daughter will be living away from us now, but trust me, she will be fine! You dont have to worry, darling"

His words made her feel less anxious. "Maybe i am just overthinking" she laid out the blanket evenly on her and closed her eyes. Sanders also tucked himself and they went to sleep.

The phone started ringing at 1:45 am, only a few minutes after they had drifted off to dreamland, and startled the two. "Wonder who'd it be?" Sanders groggily grabbed the phone and answered it as his wife sat nearby staring at him wide eyed.

"Hello"

"Yes this is Mr. Sanders"

"WHAT?!"

"WHAT ROOM??"

"WE'LL BE THERE RIGHT AWAY!"

He yelled at his phone. Mrs. Sanders was already having a panic attack.

"WHO WAS IT WHAT DID THEY SAY?"

"NO TIME TO EXPLAIN GET IN THE CAR!"

They arrived at central hospital at 2 am in the morning. The sanders rushed to room they were told to. Mrs sanders could barely hold onto herself.

"I cant believe it" she really couldnt believe it. She could've never predicted this disaster. Her insides were a storm. And so were Mr sanders'. They never imagined something as disastrous as THIS could have ever happened to them.

They both waited anxiously outside the room. Mr sanders was impatiently walking up and down the corridor. Mrs Sanders sat on the benches, crying her eyes out.

A few minutes later, the doctor stepped outside. Both leapt onto him and asked him if the couple was okay. The doctor told them only one had survived the crash...

The rain started pouring heavily. Susan didnt realize she had soaked completely. A flash of lightning accompanied by a bolt of thunder snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked at the sky again. Her eyes were crying as intensely as the sky was. She turned around and looked at the fireplace through the balcony. Above the fireplace was lying a framed picture. Mr. And Mrs. Sanders, susan, and her late husband john. John's parents were there as well. How happy they all looked. She walked upto the fireplace, neglecting how rainwater dripping down from her clothes was gonna create a puddle. She held the picture and her thoughts, once again, went back to that day. Oh, how beautiful she was had pictured the future to be...

So many years have passed, she thought to herself, yet it almost feels like yesterday. The day her life flipped over and would never be the same again...
