The raven-haired beauty sat by a window, staring at the setting sun creating a cotton candy sky. She longed to be up there, with the birds and clouds. Oh, how beautiful it was!

She wanted more than anything to grow wings and fly from this house. From her life. From everything. It would be peaceful up there. Quiet, calming. I would finally be able to relax, she thought.

A flock of birds flew overhead, creating a surreal vision. She sighed, someday she promised her self. Someday.

There was a sharp rap-tap-tap on her door, bringing her back to the now.

"Yes? Who is it?" The door opened and a tall person stood in the doorway. "I guess you're here to take me back?" The person nodded. She sighed and slowly rose. As she left the room she looked one more time at the sky.

As they descended into the dark underground she felt like running back. But she knew it would be foolish. Slowly they made their way deeper down. It took every cell in her body to walk forward.

At the entrance to the throne room, she hesitated. What would her mother think of her? She took a step in. She could feel the anger humming off her mother.

"Excuse us." The queen said everyone felt the room.

"Mother, I can explain..."

"No. I forbade it, and you disobeyed me. There will be consequences." She held her head above her daughters.

"Mother, I went 30 feet from the entrance. I wasn't in any danger." She looked up pleadingly.

"No excuses. You broke an ancient law. You must be punished. If I don't do something I will lose our peoples respects." She huffed out a sigh.

"Then punish me. Banish me for all I care!"

"Natenia, that's absurd."

"But you'll be doing me a favor! I only snuck out there to see the sky! So with banishing me, you'll be giving me what I want," Natenia is begged.

"Sweety! I'm not banishing the only heir to the throne! Now go to your room. I have a meeting with the elders." She rubbed her eyes.

"Fine. While you're there thank them for making my life miserable." She raced out. Practically running to her room. She threw her self on her bed. Sobbing.

The raven-haired princess sobbed silently in the dark. Longing to grow wings and take flight. Her love for the sky was a curse. And there was no way to get rid of it. She pictured the setting sun, the blue and pink sky. The birds.

She longed to be free.
