I was always told stories about how my mom used to be
How she was full of life 
How she loved me 
How she used to smile so big boys would just fall at her feet
How she fell for my father and got pregnant with me 
How hopeful she was to be with the man of her dreams 
How devastated she was when he left her with me
How drugs and men were the only way she could cope with the defeat 
Some times I get scared that I have parts of her in me 
So eager for love that I forget to love me
So foolish and dumb that I can’t even see that I’m the only one who can save me from me
