There was a secret door
Only for the poor
That if you walked through
You were served potato stew
And you're friends were there
And there was no fare
The stew was free
And so was the coffee
But you had to be poor
To walk through the door
And inside was the best cigarettes
And if you stayed you wouldn't have to pay rent
They had beds and dressers all ready to go
For a man who had no home
Through the secret door the ladies where kind
But stay and beware was hung on a signed
For if you came through you would never be rich
Because the poorest of all know life's a bitch
You would have to stay poor
To walk through that door
A curse will be put upon you
That I dime you would never see through
And that's what lies behind the secret door
Forever and always you will stay poor
