As a man, I don't expect you to break down my walls. I don't expect you to prove to me that you're not like the men before you. I don't expect you to understand me all the time. I don't expect you to take on my shit. I don't expect you to fix me. I don't expect you to mend my broken heart and put my broken pieces back together again. Those are things I need to take care of myself.
As a man, what I expect from you is to prove to me that you're trustworthy, safe and stable. I expect you to show me how you react to stress and pressure. I expect you to prove to me that you can handle a woman like me without yelling, fighting or running away. I expect you to hold space for me so I can allow my emotions to move through me. I expect you to hold me, allow me to lean on you, and gather strength from you. I expect you to be centred, focused, and confident. I expect you to be purposeful, to stand up in front of the world and claim what you're here to do. Think you can handle that?
